Back by popular demand, coming to Chardon Town Square Saturday, August 20, the Live Well Chardon festival is geared toward helping people become the best possible version of themselves through health and wellness activities, group fitness classes and food sampling.

“We are on a mission to inspire healthy living that creates positive change in our communities,” says Live Well Initiative Founder Chad Gourley, who shares the group just received its 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

In addition to Live Well Chardon, this summer the grassroots group has also hosted wellness festivals in Willoughby and The Flats East Bank in Cleveland.

“As we took stock of the positive impact our events had on the community, from new businesses moving into town to a shifting mindset amongst local citizens, we decided it was time to broaden our reach,” says Chad. “Thanks to tons of positive energy and connections made, our initiative is following the vision and hopes we had when we started it in 2018.

Chad and his team are thankful to their loyal sponsors over the years, including Heinen’s Club Fx, Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Medicine, Marous Brothers and The Bar Athletics, just to name a few.

Mind, Body and Spirit
Live Well Chardon will connect wellness businesses to attendees, with more than 40 local vendors.

“Our collaborative event is part of the growing landscape for community health initiatives to engage, and most importantly educate, people to achieve their healthiest self in mind, body and spirit,” says Chad. “Simply put, we want people to thrive. And Chardon is the perfect epicenter to introduce people to these local wellness businesses and advocates. We find that getting these vendors together also opens doors to them sharing with each other and networking.”

Chad explains the idea to bring the winning concept to Chardon began when Adam Rogers reached out to him. Adam used to work at the Willoughby Recreation Department and now works at the Chardon Recreation Department.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., festival attendees can enjoy healthy food samples from local restaurants, watch fitness demonstrations, enjoy complimentary health assessments and chair massages and take part in a packed schedule of free group fitness classes including yoga and dance.

“People will find a beneficial mix of fitness studios and personal trainers, massage therapists, and representatives from the local hospital systems,” says Chad. “We want to celebrate the abundance of local health professionals and businesses that make Chardon such a rich and vibrant culture.”

Looking Ahead
Chad says he sees the future of the Live Well Initiative expanding its reach to other communities throughout the Midwest.

“The turnouts we receive at our events are an indication that this is a market that’s deeply interested in bettering their wellness,” he adds. “Live Well Chardon is a true win-win initiative. When individuals strive to become their best, the community benefits as a whole.”

Chad goes on to say the festivals are, “just the tip of the iceberg regarding the work we intend to do to position Cleveland as the wellness mecca of the Midwest. We are hoping to go beyond the festivals and become a regional resource for community wellness.”

Hosted by the Live Well Initiative, Live Well Chardon is a free event that takes place at Chardon Town Square in downtown Chardon. There’s still time to become a vendor or sponsor at the event. For more information, visit LiveWellInitiative.org or call 440-975-6176.
