With the stroke of a brush, Curb Appeal Painting is transforming homes
By Patricia Nugent
“God is in the details,” is an often-used quote by architect Mies van der Rohe that explains when attention is paid to small things, it can produce the biggest reward. When it comes to home décor, casting attention to trim, molding, doors and staircases can make a transformative impact to a living space.
Since 2003, the perfectionists at Curb Appeal Painting have beautified homes all over Northeast Ohio with professional-level home makeovers.
“We take our craft seriously,” says Curb Appeal’s marketing director Rob Drago. “Our painters are seasoned and passionate about each job.”
Doors are Having a Moment
“Some of our customers are looking to doors and trim as an opportunity for injecting color into a room,” says Rob. “Vibrant shades of burgundy or navy can still work nicely in a stately, classic esthetic. And those looking for more of a boho look are going with bright shades of electric blue, green, yellow and red. Our painters have seen and done it all in home décor and are experts at helping homeowners select the just-right shade to contrast with the colors already in the room.”
Another hot trend that’s part of the farmhouse chic style is matte black doors and trim.
“This high-definition, high-contrast look lends an effect that’s both vintage and stylish,” he says. “It can add interest to a room by defining architectural elements like soaring windows or paned doors.”
Another detail that’s often overlooked by homeowners is the ceiling. Rob says that nothing makes a room appear more drab than yellowed or stained ceilings.
“A fresh coat of bright white can make a space seem fresh, newer and larger,” he says.
Trending in Ascending
“We cater to jobs of any size, from whole-home interior painting to something as small as a staircase makeover,” he adds. “Oftentimes the staircase is centrally positioned in the home and acts as a focal point. Many of our customers are having us paint their old golden-stained oak spindles cream or white for a cleaner look. We’re also going with matte black, dark brown, gray or navy on the railings for a more subdued effect. This is an area that shows dirt easily, and is tough to keep clean, so a darker shade is recommended. With so much intricacy to the carved wood, this is a paint job for a professional.”
He notes that older homes with wood stairs also offer an opportunity to add color to a design scheme.
In addition to rooms, trim and doors, Curb Appeal has earned a reputation for repainting cabinetry, whether for a kitchen transformation or other rooms in the home. The painters exhaustively go through all the steps, removing doors, cleaning, sanding, priming, sanding again and painting, using commercial-grade paint that contains a hardener within the formula to retain a beautiful, durable finish.
As a full-service operation, if anything like molding or trim needs to be restored during a job, the company has carpenters on staff.
If you call Curb Appeal now, you can still get on the schedule to have your home looking like new in time for the holidays.
