When the plans to build an active lifestyle community on the picturesque grounds of the former Rosemont Country Club were revealed last fall, it caused a lot of buzz. This spring, construction has begun at The Retreat at Rosemont, with the model set to open in a couple of weeks.

“We have almost completely sold through the first phase, but still have a handful of great homesites still available, says Matt Schmahl, director of sales and project coordinator for New Leaf Homes, which is developing and building The Retreat at Rosemont, an Epcon community. “We have broken ground and are starting on one home a week right now.”

When completed, this new community, surrounded by dedicated green space and walking trails, will have 81 detached cluster homes featuring single-floor, maintenance-free living.

At the center of the community is a clubhouse, on which construction will start this spring. Designed as a place you can gather with family and friends, it includes an outdoor pool, two pickleball courts, two bocce ball courts, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a kitchen, an exercise room and a meeting space.

Pickleball courts are just one of the many amenities at the clubhouse.

“We have extensively researched which amenities people are looking for and are designing homes to fit their lifestyle,” says Amy McCormick, national sales manager for Epcon Franchising Inc. “The clubhouse is designed to be an extension of each homeowner’s living room, where they can host private parties or meet with other neighbors. Even if you are downsizing, you can still have big parties here.”

“We understand that when downsizing, homeowners still want all the luxury and accommodations they are accustomed to but in a smaller package,” she adds.

The homes are skirted by 64 acres of nature preserve, so each one is enveloped in a serene setting while located just blocks away from shopping and dining.

A private courtyard forms the centerpiece of each home, allowing access to a peaceful oasis just steps away.

In total, there are six home models to choose from, providing 1,400 to 3,000 square feet of living space. “The homes are designed for flexibility so they can easily adapt to each owner’s needs now and in the future,” says Matt.

The homes follow universal design principles with accessibility in mind and include features such as zero entry so there are no steps up to the front door or in the garage.

“Each home buyer will be guided through the design process by their very own personal designer with many luxury base options to choose from,” says Amy.
