Since our temps have already dipped into the 30s, I thought it was time to touch on the importance of making sure your automobile is properly prepared for winter.

First of all, our safety philosophy centers on “see and be seen.” We make sure the parts of your car that keep you visible and seeing clearly are in working order, such as headlights and taillights, front window and rear window defogger and defroster.

I cannot stress the importance of completely clearing any snow or ice off your front and back windshields, windows and mirrors. Even if you’re in a hurry, impaired visibility could be the difference between you seeing an oncoming car or not. We’ve all seen the driver who is speeding down the road with only a tiny circle cleared off their windshield. That’s incredibly dangerous.

And since you never know when a storm might hit in Northeast Ohio, I also recommend keeping a little emergency bundle in your trunk, including a blanket, boots and gloves, a flashlight, a small shovel, and a little sand or road salt.
