Because of Covid-19, many of us have delayed taking care of our health. We’ve put off medical appointments, reduced our activity, and experience inflammation related to fear, anxiety and stress.

If you are experiencing symptoms related to varicose veins—including leg swelling, pain or fatigue—you may also be inclined to postpone treatment until the fall, a common tactic for patients who don’t want to wear compression socks during the warm summer months.

But that’s no longer a concern because a new procedure means you can skip the post-procedure compression stocking requirement altogether.

It’s called the Venaseal Closure System and it relies on a special “glue” instead of medication or heat. The new method is also especially attractive to patients who don’t like needles. There is one small injection of numbing medication then a small, approximately 3 mm incision. Everything else happens inside your veins. Benefits also include faster healing times and no downtime.

Although Venaseal is now covered by Medicare, it is not yet universally covered by insurance in Ohio. However, the advantages of the procedure are so great that many patients opt to pay for the treatment out of pocket.

If you decided to postpone varicose vein treatments because of Covid or a concern over needles, now is a good time to reevaluate that choice. Contact our office now for a free screening and we can let you know if you are a candidate, especially if you are having any of the following symptoms:

  • leg swelling
  • chronic leg pain
  • fatigue
  • itching
  • burning
  • inflammation
  • leg cramps
  • Restless Leg Syndrome
