By Felicia Vargo, The Starving Chef
Beat the summer heat with sorbet. This scrumptious treat combines the refreshing flavors of juicy watermelon, sweet strawberries and a zing of tangy lime.
Summer Sorbetto
Prep time: 30 minutes
Chill time: 6 hours
Freeze time: 8-10 hours
Serves: 8
Ingredients
16 oz. frozen strawberries, lightly thawed
24 oz. frozen watermelon, chopped and lightly thawed
2 T lime juice
2 T honey
⅛ t salt
¾ C water
¾ C sugar
Here’s How
- In a large pot, boil the sugar and water over high heat until syrupy, around 30 minutes. Let it cool and transfer to an airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours until cold.
- Blend the frozen watermelon, strawberries, lime juice, and honey in a blender or food processor until smooth. Add the simple syrup and pulse until well blended.
Option #1:
Use an ice cream maker to churn the sorbet until it reaches a thick and smooth consistency. Transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for 8-10 hours.
Option #2:
Pour the mixture into an airtight container and freeze it for 8-10 hours.
Allow the sorbet to thaw for 5-10 minutes prior to serving to make scooping easier. Enjoy!
