Home additions come in all shapes and sizes. From a bump-out in your kitchen that increases the square footage in the heart of your home, to adding a second floor master bedroom and en suite bathroom, to building a sunroom on the back of your home, you will enjoy these newfound spaces for years to come.

Specializing in home additions, Kaye Construction has been busy keeping up with the demand from homeowners who want to stay in their home—but increase its functionality—instead of moving to a new neighborhood.

“It’s such a hot seller’s market right now that people are having problems finding a new home, so many are opting to stay put and renovate,” says Joe Kaye, who, along with his brother, Josh, and father, Ron, owns Kaye Construction.

“When you are looking for more space, building a home addition is a cost-effective option compared to buying new,” he says. “It’s not only that the cost of buying a new home is high, but once you move in you are likely to make improvements to make it your own anyway.”

From adding a couple hundred extra square feet of living space to doubling your entire space, no job is too big or too small for Kaye Construction. Plus, the company can also extend your living space outdoors, flowing onto a new backyard deck or front porch.

This past year, Kaye Construction built a living room extension for a couple in Seven Hills. “The homeowners had an old sunroom on the back of their home, so we removed that and built a 300-square-foot addition from the foundation up,” says Joe. “The new addition also added space for a larger dining room.”

And in North Olmsted, they are currently building a two-story addition.

“By constructing a two-story addition, we are affording the homeowners extra space both upstairs and downstairs,” says Joe. “On the first floor, we are expanding the living room. Above it, we are making room for a new master bedroom suite on the second floor.”

Kaye Construction is also helping homeowners age in place by taking down walls, widening door entries and building first-floor additions.

“Though assisted living facilities may be modern and luxurious, they are not home,” says Ron, who has been working in the construction industry for 30 years. “We give seniors the opportunity to stay in the place they love by renovating their home and making it more functional.”

For one Lakewood couple, that meant building a bathroom addition on the back of the house, along with a deck and wheelchair ramp, so they could remain in their home located on a beautiful tree-lined street near the lake.

For one Lakewood couple, building a bathroom addition on the back of the house, along with a deck and wheelchair ramp, gives them the extra functionality so they can remain in their home.

“We built a small addition on the back corner of the home’s first floor and added a wheelchair-accessible bathroom with a door that leads to a deck and ramp in the back,” Joe shares.

For another homeowner in Fairview Park, Kaye Construction built a wheelchair ramp in front of house and made the bathroom bigger and more accessible.

“We help homeowners plan ahead for the future to create a functional design so they can stay in their home as long as possible,” says Joe. “For us, remodeling is more than just sprucing up a home by adding new flooring and cabinets. We always are thinking about how we can make it more functional.”
