In the five years since she founded Finesse Footcare, Dr. Danielle Shaper has made a name for her practice by introducing leading-edge treatments that help patients take a conservative path of minimally invasive care.

“When I discover new technology about to hit the market, usually through my manufacturer reps, first I do the research to see if it’s worthwhile, then I go to my network of fellow podiatrists to see if they’ve worked with it,” she says.

As a podiatrist who has been active in industry associations, such as the Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Shaper has countless contacts. She also networks with past colleagues in both Chicago and Boston.

Her medical offices are homey and inviting—and that’s exactly how Dr. Shaper wanted it. Soothing sky-blue walls, gray plank flooring, bright modern artwork and a sparkly gray quartz counter at the front desk bespeak a casually sophisticated environment.

Before a course of treatment is created, Dr. Shaper does digital X-rays to get a picture of the foot’s biomechanics. Often the first conservative step is custom orthotics shoe inserts to realign the foot.

Dr. Shaper takes a digital impression of the patient’s feet and sends it to a lab to make the inserts.

For nagging, unsightly toenail fungus, the FDA-approved, non-thermal Lunula laser painlessly penetrates the nail to kill fungus. As soon as she introduced it to her practice, word of mouth spread, and it became her most popular treatment.

To keep up with demand, Dr. Shaper purchased a second laser so patients can have both feet treated at the same time.

For patients suffering from heel pain, Dr. Shaper offers Radial Shockwave therapy, which painlessly transfers mechanical energy to the foot through a hand-held device. Pulsed energy heals inflamed tissue by increasing circulation on a cellular level and boosting the immune system’s natural response.

In addition to these treatments, Dr. Shaper works with cortisone injections and taping, as well as a soft-tissue F/X laser to treat pain.

She reports the next frontier for podiatry lies in regenerative treatment through amniotic injections to treat conditions including plantar fasciitis, neuromas and Achilles tendon issues.

What Patients are Saying
The words “thorough” and “knowledgeable” come up time and again within the five-star reviews for Finesse.

“Dr. Shaper was very kind and understood my problem,” says Karin K. “She explained treatment options and what would work best for me. I never felt rushed.”

Thomas P. reports her personable demeanor is what he likes best about Finesse Footcare.

“Dr. Shaper always makes you feel like you’re the only person she’s caring for that day. She does things with a smile and is very conscientious as to what she’s doing. Is gentle, helpful and always filled with ideas that can be helpful for your situation.”

As we head into the new year, Dr. Shaper says she hopes people will stop putting up with foot pain and give her a call.

“With the new advancements and combining different therapies, I can almost always fix or make much better whatever is affecting you,” she says. “Foot issues, whether fungus, bunions, plantar fasciitis or heel pain, usually do not get better on their own. The sooner problems are addressed, the better the long-term outcome. My patients run the gamut from children to adults, couch potatoes to high-performance athletes. Whatever your age or stage in life, I can help.”
