After more than a year in business, local artisan Bruce Hanusosky, owner of Unique Live Edge Tables, is learning more and more about his customers and what motivates them to seek out his handmade, solid wood, one-of-a-kind live-edge tables available at his shop in Mentor.

“Many of our customers are downsizing or remodeling after the kids have moved out and are replacing the old utilitarian furniture with something more artistically distinctive and worthy of showcasing in their new space,” Bruce says. “Some are seeking something more meaningful than the throw-away, mass-market furniture available today and looking for sustainable, eco-friendly, unique pieces without the environmental impact of most furniture production. Live-edge furniture offers all of that plus the quality and durability only solid wood can provide.”

At Unique Live Edge, Bruce offers hand-crafted, solid wood and river tables in all shapes and sizes for any space in your home, along with benches, stools, shelving and charcuterie boards appealing to every design style from farmhouse to contemporary and everything in between. The live edges and smooth surfaces of each wood piece showcase the natural curves, knots and grain patterns of each wood piece for a one-of-a kind appearance adding a unique focal point to any room and character to your home.

Tables come in a wide variety of wood species, including black walnut, maple (ambrosia, spalted, curly, sugar and more), sycamore and cypress, and a selection of exotic African (purple heart, padua, black limba), European (olive and maple) and South American (Brazilian cherry and ribbon sipo) species. Most woods are locally sourced from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

“After more than a year in business, many customers who purchased a charcuterie board or side table originally are now returning for larger pieces,” Bruce says. “I’ve been busy designing more custom pieces like dining and conference tables and bar and island tops. Open-concept living allows for so many options. I can design a table for a narrow hallway, behind a sofa, in the entryway, or to be tucked into another spot in your home. I will design the perfect piece to fit your needs.”

Bruce invites you to stop in, look around the showroom and see what you like. And if you don’t find exactly what you’re looking for, sit down with Bruce for a custom design discussion.

“We’ll talk about design components, colors, wood species, table bases and legs, and what the table will be used for,” Bruce says. “And if you’re not sure about the live edge, traditional straight edges are also an option. I’ll craft the perfect custom piece of art guaranteed to be cherished and admired for generations to come.”

Bruce’s vast collection of charcuterie boards is perfect for holiday and hostess gift-giving. And just like everything else at Unique Live Edge Tables, if you don’t see what you’re looking for, Bruce will make one just for you.
