Start vein treatments in the fall
By Dr. Sonja Stiller, Center for Advanced Vein Care
School buses are rumbling down the street, Browns football has begun, and some leaves are already starting to turn. It’s hard to imagine, but the summer we all looked so forward to is almost over.
If you didn’t have the summer you dreamed of due to leg pain or swelling, the time to act is now. Starting in the early fall has two major advantages:
1. Enjoy Next Summer
Varicose vein treatments take time, so starting now means you can have gorgeous, healthy legs next summer. Many patients begin to think about vein treatments in February and March with their eye toward spring, but that is far too late to enjoy the full benefits by summer. Getting started now means you’ll be able to enjoy hiking, Cedar Point and walks on the beach—without achiness or swelling—as early as next spring.
2. Wear Compression When It’s Cool
Prior to treatment, most insurance companies require four to six weeks of compression. While advancements in compression socks have made them much more tolerable, they are still far more comfortable in colder weather. Starting now means you can satisfy your compression requirement during the cooler months of autumn. That said, our practice offers an advanced treatment that has no compression requirement, making it even easier to have healthy legs next summer.
Give our office a call if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms: chronic leg pain • fatigue • itching • burning • inflammation • leg cramps • Restless Leg Syndrome.
