It’s said that life’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Pacing is everything.

Few people get that as well as the designers at Acclaim Renovations & Design.

“We appreciate that people who plan to stay in their home for 20 or 30 years or more can become overwhelmed by having to keep the rooms up to date,” says Bob Potocar, COO of Acclaim. “We have a reputation for doing high-end jobs, tapping into specialty materials and craftsmanship, such as mosaic tilework. And while we are blessed with staff who do incredible tile, I hope people also think of us for doing smaller, more manageable room transformations, too. More of an update than a total renovation.”

He says they often sit down with clients and map out a plan for several years into the future, picking which rooms they’ll concentrate on and in what order.

“We’re blessed in Northeast Ohio with homes that hold and increase their value,” he adds. “People are staying in their houses longer and we help them toward a path that’s financially feasible and stress-free. It’s always wise to have a plan in place.”

Wetwall was used in the shower. The large panels are waterproof and without grout, they’re super easy to clean.
A goal of this bathroom renovation was to move the older tub that was in a unit with the shower and add a stylish soaking tub.

Little Changes, Big Impact
“In many cases, just replacing a few elements in a room, whether that means the kitchen backsplash and counters, or doing a tub-to-shower conversion, is enough to totally change the space,” says Bob. “The photos seen here were updates to spaces that were dark and dated. By replacing the counters, cabinets and showers in the master bath, we were able to make a big impact and open up the space. Another goal of this bathroom renovation was to move the older tub that was in a unit with the shower and add a stylish soaking tub.”

In the shower they used wetwall, a trending alternative to hand-laid tile. Since the large panels are waterproof and without grout, they’re super easy to clean. Plus, their stunning looks mimic the appearance of Italian marble, granite and exotic wood grains. Seen here is Calacatta Statuario, a white marble design with misty pale gray veining.

Another similar replacement line they’ve started using is called Dumawall. It lends the look of porcelain panels at a more affordable price point.

“Either product can breathe new life into a bathroom,” he says. “I would say these systems are almost like LVT for your walls. They’re fairly indestructible and provide a glamorous effect. Since we are professional distributors of these lines, you can choose from a much wider selection than you could from other places. And we pass savings from wholesale pricing along to our clients.”

In the kitchen seen here, replacing the old backsplash, sink and counters made a huge difference.

“We went with a popular Arabesque shape tile in the backsplash, which made everything lighter and brighter,” says Bob. “The pale gray-green shade is called Eucalyptus and since it’s high-gloss, curvaceous and beveled, it added a lot of dimension to the space. This was complemented by Fantasy Brown quartzite countertops that had a lot of movement. We collaberated with interior designer, Debra Metcalf on this project to help pull all these elements together. ”

It’s All about the Experience
Pacing out elements of a renovation is just one of the ways the designers customize the renovation experience.

“We are proud to produce innovative work that’s a reflection of each homeowner’s unique personality,” he says. “We understand home renovation can be a little stressful, and clients have come to realize they can trust us.”

Clearly, their approach is working. Bob says 2022 has already been one of their busiest years on record.
