We’ve made it our mission to volunteer our time and resources to local charities that make a real impact on the community.

With the mission statement, “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town,” Sleep in Heavenly Peace is one that’s close to our hearts. I think people would be shocked if they knew how many kids in our communities don’t have beds to sleep on.

Each year, we open the doors to our warehouse and host a bed-building event.

We invite anyone in the community to join us on Saturday, August 17, at 9 a.m. Our goal is to build 40 beds. The beauty of these builds is you need no training. We demonstrate everything that needs to be done and provide the tools, gloves and safety goggles. All the wood is precut and delivered the night before.

Families bring their kids, and everyone gets involved. We also need help delivering the beds after they are put together.

This nonprofit works with social services agencies in Lake and Geauga counties, as well as the local police and fire departments, to pinpoint the families in need.

If you cannot make the bed-building event, the charity is also accepting donations of new twin bedding. You can drop off at our headquarters during business hours.

When it comes to helping the less fortunate, we’ve always been in the “go big or go home” category. It’s the right thing to do.
