AFTER: Neubert Painting removes all doors and drawers and takes them back to its shop for a professional spray coating that has a hard-as-nails finish. The result is a factory finish that the average paint company cannot duplicate.

Barbara Kroll and her husband found a home they loved in Broadview Heights’ Macintosh Farms. Although the location topped their list of choices, they were less than thrilled with the interior of the home they purchased several years ago.

As seniors on a budget with an eye for sensational home décor, the Krolls tapped into the expertise of Neubert Painting to transform the rooms of their home.

“Ron Andregg from Neubert was our painter and I can’t say enough good things about him,” Barbara smiles, her soft voice warming at the mention of the brush master who made the dated rooms of her lovely little 20-year-old home look fresh and new again. “He painted the walls and ceilings in every room and was such a perfectionist. I was very happy with the result.”

Barbara learned that Neubert Painting also offered cabinet refinishing, so she asked Ron if he could tackle that project as well. “Our kitchen has the original oak cabinets, and they’re still in great shape,” Barbara says. “But they needed to be freshened up a bit. I knew Ron was the person to do the job.”

After showing Barbara sample doors to demonstrate how the finished product would look, Ron invited her to peruse paint samples so she could pick the color that best matched her tastes and décor—and there is a virtually unlimited selection of hues from which to choose.

Ron removed all of the doors and drawers from the Krolls’ kitchen and took them back to the Neubert Painting workshop, where he expertly prepped them with a Festool dustless system before painting. All knobs and pulls were removed and Barbara says she chose new hardware to be installed once the painting was completed.

BEFORE

The cabinets were de-glossed with a strong cleaner and any oil or grease removed. An oil-based bonding primer was used before the doors and drawers were finished with a hard-as-nails factory finish applied in two coats.

“We use lacquer coatings to paint kitchen cabinets,” says John Neubert, owner of Neubert Painting. “This is the same type of coating that is used in cabinet manufacturing so it’s more durable and lasts longer. And because we spray our finish on, it produces a high-quality result.”

The Krolls spent about $4,000 to have their kitchen cabinets refinished, and John says that’s in line with the typical, and budget-friendly, $4,000-$6,000 cost.

“We didn’t want to take on the expense or invasiveness of a full kitchen remodel,” Barbara inserts. “Having our cabinets painted took just a few days, and when Ron painted the cabinet frames, he was meticulously neat and clean. There was very little odor. When he came back to reinstall the doors and drawers, he even touched up some of the paint on our kitchen walls to make sure everything was perfect.”

“Our team uses a systematic approach to achieve a hard-as-nails durable finish,” John stresses. “Our craftsmen take old wood cabinets and make them look like new. The quality of our finishes are amazing. I see these cabinet doors and drawers in our drying racks daily. I love to touch and feel the silky smooth finished product. They look and feel like new.”

John continues, “Our team of carpenters can add a backsplash and crown molding, and make kitchen modifications to accommodate new appliances.”

Barbara says she was impressed by Neubert’s five-year warranty and has been telling friends and family about the company. “I am very happy,” she adds. “I wanted something pretty and that’s what I got. I can’t say enough good things about Ron and Neubert Painting.”
