With the current and intense focus on respiratory health, the ladies at Vivify Wellness at Avenues report their salt room has been busier than ever.

“One of the biggest benefits of salt therapy is its natural ability to remove toxicity from the respiratory system and boost the immune system,” says Lisa M. Borchert, M.A. Ed., LPCC, who founded Vivify. “Dry salt, which is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, penetrates deeply into the respiratory tract to draw out impurities, germs and bacteria.”

Currently, the salt room is being scheduled for individual use, or small groups of families. Staggered appointments reduce exposure to others.

Lisa did a lot of research before building the salt room, and found many studies pointing to the efficiency of pure, natural salt.

In a 2017 study published in Scientific Reports, researchers found the use of simple sodium chloride on the surface of a surgical mask dissolved when exposed to virus aerosols and recrystallized when drying to destroy the pathogens.

“Salt-coated filters showed remarkably higher filtration efficiency than conventional mask filtration layer,” the study states.

In addition to the Salt Room, Vivify is also offering infrared sauna and virtual acupressure visits with nationally renowned acupuncturist Jennifer Saferstein to aid in healing and wellness.
