Have you ever found yourself wishing you had a plumber in the family? You know, someone to call when there’s water coming through the ceiling or you’re up to your ankles in the basement. Or maybe you want to install that new fixture in the master bathroom or faucet in the kitchen. Not to worry. Mimi knows a guy.
That guy is Larry Betlejewski, Jr., owner of the full-service plumbing company Beetles Plumbing Solutions. After 27 years in the industry, Larry Jr.’s son, Larry III, showed an interest in the plumbing trade and his dad took that as a sign.
“I worked for two major plumbing companies in 27 years and had great experiences at both,” Larry Jr. says. “I learned the skill set involved in plumbing in my first job and then learned the business side of the industry at the second. Larry III’s interest along with certain family events made me think it was the right time to do this. So, we took the leap and started Beetles Plumbing Solutions last March.”
As President of the State of Ohio Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors (PHCC), Larry Jr. advocates on the state level for local plumbing businesses.
“We work on legislation on behalf of small business owners,” Larry Jr. says. “We are a vital part of the infrastructure of this country, and we take that very seriously. I’m teaching my son that we must have the highest of expectations of ourselves on every call.”
After 27 years, not much surprises Larry Jr. His one piece of advice for homeowners, if you’re not sure you can fix it, call him.
“We clean up after a lot of DIYers,” Larry Jr. says. “Not every plumbing issue needs a licensed plumbing contractor, but if you think you’re over your head with an issue, you probably are. You might do more damage by trying yourself.”
“We make a real personal connection with our clients,” Larry Jr. adds. “Our attention to detail, customer care and extra services like routine checks and educating clients on system maintenance sets us apart from other companies. We are highly educated in this field and are passionate about teaching apprentices and educating customers about their own homes.”
As part of his high school education, Larry III attended Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in Brecksville, where he had many trades to choose from and chose plumbing.
“He took a liking to it and was extremely talented and even won a state competition,” Larry Jr. says. “We are huge advocates of trade schools, and our plan is to eventually take on trade school students in apprentice roles.”
Larry Jr. is already doing that with his son.
“We go on a lot of calls together,” Larry Jr. says. “I want him to see what my expectations are. He’ll be setting the tone some day for future employees.”
The future—Larry Jr. admits he thinks about it, thus the company tagline, “Our pipe dream is your solution.” But today, he and Larry III are concentrating on being the best plumbing business for this community.
“It took us 27 years, but now we have our dream,” Larry Jr. says. “We want to be your solution.”
