Summer membership at the Shaw JCC might be the best decision you’ll make for your family. Not only will you enjoy the outdoor pool, but summer members also have access to the entire JCC facility and everything that entails.

“For summer members, it’s a great time to try out the fitness center, some of the more than 60 group classes, pickleball courts, indoor pool and so much more,” says Marketing Director Shannon Piggott. “Summer members also have the advantage of member pricing for all programming here at the JCC, including significant discounts for Camp JCC. It’s more than just joining a pool. The JCC is a true community center.”

For young families, the JCC is a great place to make new friends, try something different and keep everyone engaged in a summer full of activities.

“Our new members are always blown away by the size of our campus and variety of programs we offer year-round,” says Membership Director Ryan Miller. “Our outdoor pool is a great reason to join, but having access to our free group exercise classes, fitness center and indoor/outdoor courts is really what separates us from everyone else in the area.”

Shaw JCC also offers dedicated sports camps in soccer, track, tennis and others along with STEM camp.

Plus, registration for Camp JCC is in full swing and there are lots of new and exciting camps to look forward to along with the traditional day camp.

“Every child taking part in Camp JCC is here from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. if taking part in aftercare,” says Shannon. “Mornings are spent in traditional camp where campers swim and do crafts and other group activities. After lunch, campers can continue traditional camp or take part in one of the many specialty camps.”

Campers spend mornings with their peers, then can take advantage of a special interest camp in the afternoons. No one gets bored at Camp JCC.

New specialty camps this year include flag football, gymnastics and “All Fired Up” ceramics camp. There are also the dedicated sports camps in soccer, dance, tennis and others, along with STEM camps.

“I am thrilled to welcome campers to Camp JCC for summer days filled with sunny fun at our outdoor pool and a variety of exciting activities for campers of all ages to enjoy,” says Camp Director Anthony Ange.

In the mornings, campers swim and do projects and crafts.

The JCC is now hiring camp counselors and lifeguards for the summer. And if you’re not certified, you can take care of that right here.

Also new this year is the Jr. Counselor Program. Kids in grades 11 and 12 can apply for this exciting summer job to gain experience.

Camp JCC runs from June 10 through August 16, and members can register on a weekly basis. Spaces fill up quickly, so if you have your heart set on a certain specialty camp, the sooner you decide, the better.

Summer members have access to the pool, the entire JCC facility and everything that entails.

“The JCC is creating a welcoming community for our members,” says Shannon. “We are open to everyone regardless of race, religious preference or economic status. Our goal is to offer a safe environment for families and individuals of all ages to enjoy our programs and services. Join us this summer at the JCC.”
