With the ribbon officially snipped on its state-of-the-art, 15,000 square-foot facility in Macedonia, Optima Dermatology & Medical Aesthetics is ushering in a reinvented skin care experience, with medical, surgical and cosmetic treatments all under one roof.

More than 300 people, including Mayor Nicholas Molnar, toured the impressive practice during the grand opening party last month. Housed within its own charming red brick building, Optima contrasts to what most medical practices look like. The space is modern, stylish and welcoming. Its tagline—revolutionizing skin care—is emblazoned along a main wall for good reason.

With a new facility open in Macedonia, Optima Dermatology & Medical Aesthetics now offers the latest in aesthetic services and advancements in treating skin conditions of all types.

The Shape Your Skin is In
With an expanded range of medical aesthetic treatments, expert Shelley Plescia, MSN, NP-C offers a VISIA Skin Analysis as a part of her initial consultation.

“This medical-grade photo-imaging tool captures, records and measures surface and subsurface skin conditions, providing valuable data on UV damage, brown spots, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, texture, pores, redness and porphyrins (bacteria lodged in the pores),” she explains. “It actually comes up with a number of how old your skin presents. The data also helps us understand and collaborate on the individualized plan for each patient. The detailed assessment gives us a baseline to follow the dramatic improvement going forward with treatment. I do an analysis every three months or so after we begin services.”

She works with patients at all ages and stages of life, often combining several treatments to achieve the optimal outcomes.

To contour the face for a rejuvenated appearance, Shelley taps into injectables such as Botox and dermal fillers like Sculptra.

“It’s a natural part of aging to lose volume in the face,” she adds. “Sculptra stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, and, over time, restores your skin’s inner structure, minimizing lines and wrinkles. These gradual changes can have a massive impact on creating a well-rested and rejuvenated appearance.”

In addition to the plethora of medical aesthetic treatments, Optima Dermatology’s board-certified dermatologists offer a full scope of medical and surgical dermatology services.

The Latest in Lasers
Offering several leading-edge lasers at the practice lends Shelley the opportunity to treat more conditions.

“Our Halo hybrid fractional laser does an amazing job at restoring skin to its natural, healthy glow,” she says. “The results we see include a reduction in wrinkles, laxity, age spots and sunspots, discoloration, pore size and more.”

For acne sufferers and those seeking smoother, more vibrant skin, the Forever Young BBL photofacial treatment delivers excellent results. And under a different wavelength, it’s an effective hair removal laser, to treat areas such as underarm, upper lip, back and bikini line.

In addition to the plethora of aesthetic services, board-certified dermatologists, Dr. Meredith Reimer and Dr. Amy Polster, and board-certified physician assistant Brennen Barnett, are treating skin conditions such as acne, warts, rosacea, rashes, eczema and psoriasis, as well as performing the removal of cancerous and non-cancerous growths, moles, seborrheic keratoses, skin tags and milia.

The opening of this new facility allows Optima to unveil breakthrough medical devices to the area, including Omnilux blue light for acne and sun damage, the Houva 4 Phototherapy to treat full body eczema and psoriasis, and XTRAC targeted UVB light for skin conditions, which can worsen in the cold, dry winter months.

Later this year, look for the Macedonia facility to offer Mohs surgery to treat skin cancer and a research center to run clinical trials and studies for groundbreaking dermatological research.
