Now through the end of the month, Lumen Nation is holding its annual January Market Closeout Sale to make room for newly purchased inventory

The staff at North Canton’s Lumen Nation is just now returning from the huge January market in Dallas known as “Lightovation, the Dallas International Lighting Show.” This is where the world’s lighting manufactures present their new products to buyers, and where new trends and technologies are introduced.
Each year Lumen Nation’s buyers travel from Northeast Ohio to Dallas to examine and purchase inventory for the upcoming year. And each January, they hold a sale to clear out last year’s inventory to make room for all the new lighting.
They call it the annual January Market Closeout Sale.
“It really is our biggest sale of the year,” says owner Tom Rafferty. “You can legitimately save 20% to 50% on most items in the showroom. They are marked with special tags.”
The sale is going on now and will continue through the end of January.
“If you’ve been thinking about new lighting, now’s a great time to shop,” Tom says. “Lighting is a huge part of any interior space, and it can be a bit nuanced. That’s why our staff is so well trained. We make sure you choose the right sized light for your space, the right finish, the right type of bulb, and even the perfect down rod for your ceiling fan, plus professional installation, if you need it.”
Of course, when shopping for lighting on the internet, you don’t get this advice, so your purchase is often returned due to an inappropriate size, the wrong finish, or confusing installation instructions.
“We hardly ever have returns because of the effort we put forth before the sale to ensure the customer is making the right choice for them,” Tom says.
A Large Selection
One advantage to shopping Lumen Nation is the huge selection, including table and floor lamps, lamp shades, ceiling lights, sconces, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, landscape lighting, and decorative fixtures for inside and out.
You’ll find many more styles to choose from, especially compared to the highly limited selection at big box home improvement stores. Technology & Trends
Right now, Tom says black and two-toned gold and black finishes are increasingly popular, along with integrated LED. “The LED light is integrated into the fixture so there are no separate bulbs.,” Tom explains. “And many models feature multiple color tuning. You can choose different color light—from warm to daylight—depending on what the room is being used for.”
And today’s ceiling fans are nothing like the heavy, four-light clunkers from yesterday. Today’s fans are sleek and modern, much lighter, offer improved air flow, and are whisper quiet.
“One trend in ceiling fans is the use of DC current,” Tom says. “Your home’s AC current is stepped down to DC using a transformer, so these fans use far less energy. In fact, you can leave it on all the time because it uses about the same amount of energy as a nightlight.”
Speaking of trends, Lumen Nation is in the process of changing its Montrose location to an appointment-only lighting showroom and technology center where homeowners and contractors can explore the latest high-tech lighting and smart home automation trends, including trimless recessed LED cans and automated window blinds.
