"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of a library,” said Jorge Luis Borges. Mimi simply couldn’t agree more.

Nothing opens the mind, the heart, and the imagination like a good book. Even though we are zipping through the digital age, thank goodness people still love to read real books.

A challenge modern-day libraries face is making access to books as convenient as possible. That’s why the community partnership between Mentor Public Library and Mentor Schools is so divine.

“Through our continued relationship, we have tried to make resources conveniently available to our shared community,” says Kristen Kirby, director of community relations for the school. “Picking up books, movies and anything else that will fit in the locker from your local library just got more convenient. The library has installed Book Station hold lockers outside of Mentor High School near the entrance to the gymnasium between the Fine Arts Center and Paradigm building.”

Anyone with a CLEVNET card can now request items be sent to the hold lockers the same way they’d have them delivered to any other library branch. It’s pretty easy, if you’re ordering from the website, choose “MENTOR/High School Lockers” when selecting where you want to pick up the items.

Kristen reports your holds can be picked up 24/7 and are completely secure in the lockers. You either scan your library card or enter your library card number to open a locker. Once the locker door is opened, the items inside are automatically checked out to you. After that, you can return your items to any Mentor or CLEVNET Library branch.

“This is another win-win example of our ongoing strategic partnership,” says Kristen. “In 2018, the library began offering services within the HUB for families and students interested in literacy and STEM learning.”

The Mentor School system educates 7,400 students from pre-K to 12th grade in seven elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school and one school for students with autism. For any questions about the Book Station hold lockers, call Mentor Public Library at 440-255-8811.
