How does $20.23 sound for one month of full access for you and your family to all the workout facilities, classes, personal training, activities and wellness programming that the Shaw JCC of Akron has to offer? If you sign up during the month of January, that’s exactly what you’ll get.
“This is a lower rate than our lowest-priced membership level. For a family, it will save you more than $75 for your first month,” says marketing director Shannon Piggott.
As we all know, January is a time for people to make those resolutions. So often one of those is to exercise more, and improve overall health. A Shaw JCC membership can help you achieve those goals, and so many more. Whether it’s shedding extra pounds through all the workout classes and personal training options, connecting to the mind and body through yoga, reiki, tai chi and acupuncture, or just making new friends through bridge groups, coffee in the lobby and much more, the JCC is here to offer so much more than a great workout.
“We are a full-service wellness experience for your entire family,” says Shannon. “From childcare to our ECE (Early Childhood Education Center), every style of workout—either group or personal, indoor and outdoor pools, private lessons and training, sports leagues, massage, we have it all. We also offer workshops and retreats throughout the year for children and adults to enrich their lives through things like literacy programs, yoga retreats and workshops on nutrition and other ways to care for yourself. If there’s a personal need for our members, the JCC is here to fill it.”
Shannon says that although you don’t have to be a member to sign up for certain specialty programs, membership does have its privileges in terms of significant discounts. Classes like Vibe Bootcamp, a very popular small-group, high-intensity workout, fill up fast and offer the motivation and accountability we often need in a workout.
“The JCC Fit Plan is free to all members, and includes two complimentary personal training sessions so you can set your goals and put a plan into action with the help of our certified and experienced personal trainers,” says Shannon. “It’s one thing to know what you’d like to get out of your workouts, but it’s another to know exactly how to get there. Leave that to our trainers.”
And the JCC is hip to the latest craze, the highly in-demand sport of pickleball. There are youth lessons, a young adult ladder league and indoor and/or outdoor play available all year long.
Shannon also points out that the JCC is a welcoming place where families can spend the whole day experiencing the wide range activities and programs for all ages.
“Regardless of your religious preference, marital, sexual, or economic status, we are a gathering place for members to enjoy each other and meet new friends through healthy and educational activities,” says Shannon. “We’re all looking for ways to reconnect after a long couple of years of isolation. And for $20.23, there’s very little to lose and so very much for you and your family to gain here at the JCC.”
