With a “completely private, completely personal” level of individualized training, Axio Fitness in Fairlawn offers four different types of sessions: fitness, cardio, nutrition and stretching.

“In this industry, trends and scientific findings are always changing, but we take a more timeless approach that’s adaptable,” says Owner Erin Mellinger. “Who we are and what we do remains constant. Our small group of passionate professionals is committed to each client’s goals. We make sure every workout is productive and fun, and we track progress regularly to ensure results. Each plan is customized to the client, with a focus on motivation and accountability.”

Erin and her team genuinely want to make the experience convenient for clients. There are no memberships or contracts. Clients simply purchase 45-minute private sessions based on their needs.

Being located within Main Street Physical Therapy has been a real positive for Axio clients, whether they are dealing with rehabbing an injury or recovering from surgery. In addition to the well-equipped private training suites, Axio clients can also use the state-of-the-art cardio equipment at Main Street.

“It’s a natural progression for people, with beneficial overlap and collaboration between our trainers and the physical therapists,” says Erin. “It takes our efforts to the next level. People become pain-free after something like a joint replacement procedure and PT, then ask themselves, how can I take this a step further?”

Meet Jason D.
After researching reviews of training studios in the area, 40-something Jason D. decided to take a tour of Axio Fitness 12 weeks ago.

“I felt it was time to commit myself to getting back in shape,” he says. “I didn’t have a number of how much weight I wanted to lose, but once I went through the consultation, the trainers discussed with me the importance of building muscle while I was losing fat. And since muscle weighs a lot more than fat, the number on the scale can be deceiving.”

As a former athlete who played baseball, basketball and football growing up, Jason is still involved with sports. For the past eight years, he has coached his 14-year-old son’s travel baseball team. He and his wife also have a 22-year-old daughter in college.

His biggest “aha” moment came during the nutrition session.

Ready to take your fitness to a new level are Axio Fitness owner Erin Mellinger (left) and top trainers Jarrell Johnson (center) and Riley Ickes (right) who specialize in fitness, cardio, nutrition and stretching.

“The dietitian thoroughly assessed what, when and how much I ate,” he says. “She educated me about how never eating breakfast and often skipping lunch was a bad way to start the day. That set me up to overeat at dinner and make poor choices like fast food.”

She prepared a list of healthy recipes that Jason’s family loves, including overnight oats for breakfast.

“I feel so much better now, with increased energy,” he adds. “It’s been a complete change.”

Stretch therapy has also made an impact for him.

“When I started the fitness training, my shoulders were so tight I could barely get a barbell over my head while doing squats,” he says. “Now I can easily do that. I find that doing a stretch session right after a fitness session boosts the results. The trainers showed me stretches to do at home, too.”

Being located within Main Street Physical Therapy has been a real positive for Axio clients, whether they are dealing with rehabbing an injury or recovering from surgery.

The dedication is paying dividends. Over the past four months, Jason has lost 22 pounds, and, most importantly, his BMI has gone from 44 to 36.

“The trainers are fantastic, like family,” he adds. “They’ve changed my mindset of what healthy can look like for me.”
