Is it time for an inspection?

To anyone who isn’t trained as an electrician, a home’s electrical system can seem mysterious. Electricity is flowing invisibly through your home 24/7. It’s a system that’s inherently connected, and what’s happening to one outlet in a home can affect others elsewhere.

All this being said, there are a lot of junctures where things can go wrong. Unfortunately, when things go wrong, it’s not something you can easily see.

It’s why we offer a 20-point home electrical safety evaluation. One of our electricians will spend about an hour determining:

  • Are there enough GFI outlets in place?
  • Are all outlets and switches wired correctly?
  • Are there enough smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors?
  • We inspect the outlets outside the home and the meter.
  • Is there anything damaged or not functioning with the breaker box? Is it so old that it’s obsolete, made by companies that are no longer in business so fuses cannot be replaced?
  • Are there too many things plugged into one outlet that may be overloading it?
  • Would a home benefit from whole-house surge protection?
  • Can older incandescent lights be replaced with LED ones that save money and electricity?
  • If it’s an older house with knob-and- tube wiring, does it need to be replaced?

To keep your system up to date, hazard-free and operating at peak efficiency, we recommend an evaluation every three to five years. The service is $69 by itself, or you can join our Safety and Savings Plan for $16 per month. It includes a free annual evaluation, as well as exclusive member discounts on service and benefits to give you peace of mind.
