Introducing Dr. Laurel’s non-surgical Lower Face Fix
By Beth Newcomb
In keeping with her practice model of offering the latest non-surgical procedures that pack an affordable punch, Dr. Laurel Matthews, a board-certified physician and the owner of Dr. Laurel’s PRP Bar, has just launched her Lower Face Fix.
“People who opt for a facelift only address part of the problem,” she explains. “A surgical facelift pulls back loose skin. It doesn’t address the loss of volume.”
Dr. Laurel explains that with aging comes a natural loss of volume around the mouth, under the chin and in the mid-face areas.
“The corners of the mouth turn down and the lips look pitched,” she says. “Lip filler alone isn’t the answer, and neither is Botox. To fully realize change, you have to address the entire lower face area.”
Dr. Laurel’s Lower Face Fix does exactly that, but the big difference here is the use of a cannula.
“I insert two small plastic tubes called cannulas at the sides of the mouth. They’re about the diameter of a 27-guage needle. I can then place the filler in the marionette lines if needed, at the sides of the mouth, beneath the lower lip, and under the chin, producing a smooth, naturally lifted look.”
Her technique also substantially differentiates this procedure from traditional filler applications.
“Instead of poke after poke with a needle that can produce a lumpy look, I can access all areas through the small cannulas,” she explains. “It’s much less painful and there are only two small injection sites.”
To return lips to their normal size, patients may opt to include lip filler.
“This is a very individualized treatment,” Dr. Laurel says. “The result is very natural looking, there is minimal discomfort and no downtime.”
