Illumin8 Wellness in Concord offers people the tools they need to heal themselves
By Mary Malik
Physical and emotional health have always been important, of course, but we’re realizing even more that it’s not selfish to care for ourselves, it’s self-preservation. Patti Lombardo, owner of Illumin8 Wellness in Concord, realized nine years ago that in order to help others heal she needed her own space.
“I’ve been planning Illumin8 in my heart for eight years,” says Patti. “After offering our healing techniques for many years through trade shows and other venues, I longed to have my own studio where we could offer the tools people need to heal themselves—like yoga, meditation, sound healing, reiki, massage and more.”
Patti and her staff of healers believe that we all have the tools we need to manage our stress, and that it’s about learning how to utilize our own bodies. Just like life, it begins and ends with breathing.
Ginny Brennen is a retired LPN who offers reiki healing, yoga and tarot readings.
“I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years and see the positive effect of these therapies,” says Ginny. “Coming from a clinical background, I always knew there were other ways to heal. I can help people do that every day now without medications.”
Teaching others helped Patti see that having her own studio, where people could come, learn, and heal, was the way to make a real impact in the lives of those who are suffering.
In the past, Patti would offer events at various venues and bring in psychic readers and different modality practitioners. Today, Illumin8 offers all of that and so much more.
Patti likes to say, “dis-ease will cause disease.” Illumin8 teaches different ways of dealing with uneasiness, stress and emotions that can build up and manifest themselves as illness.
“You have to release those feelings,” says Patti. “If you’re not a talker, we have journaling sessions combined with yoga and other ways to express your feelings. Medications just mask them.”
Illumin8 also serves Lake County through their partnership with Forbes House and a first responders program.
“We offer yoga and meditation for Forbes House women and children to give them a solid foundation before they go back out into society,” says Patti. “We also donate yoga classes for first responders in Lake County. Fire, police and ambulance heroes need an outlet for their stress, and we are proud to offer that.”
Working with children is another passion of the staff at Illumin8. They offer reiki for ages 8 and up and yoga and meditation for kids aged 6 and older.
“Helping kids handle their emotions and teaching them how to calm themselves with meditation is a skill that will serve them well throughout their lives,” says Patti. “Bullying is a real problem, and we have the techniques to help kids express themselves.”
Jodi Mueller is training in reiki instruction and helps Patti stay organized.
“I can’t say enough about how grateful I am to have Illumin8 in my life,” says Jodi. “I was in a very depressed state, suffering side effects from my medications, and couldn’t find a doctor to listen. Reiki changed my life. I’m happy, active and living life medication- and pain-free. I feel amazing.”
Patti invites you to come in for a complimentary class of your choice and experience Illumin8 for yourself.
“You need to feel this place,” says Patti. “The energy is so beautiful. Whether it’s your mind, body or soul in need, we’ll put you on your personal path to wellness.”
