If you’re thinking about selling your home, here’s why now might be the best time
By Laura Briedis
Presidential election season always stirs up uncertainty across various sectors of the economy—including the real estate market.
“If you are thinking about selling your home this fall, home prices tend to decrease around election time because of all the uncertainties,” says Kevin Wasie, founder of Exactly real estate brokerage.
“So it is better to get your home ready to put on the market now during the summer.”
To get your house ready to list, Kevin offers these five tips:
- Pressure wash your driveway and any walkways leading up to your front door. Most homeowners don’t realize how dirty their driveways are and how power washing makes a big difference.
- Mulch your flower beds. A well-landscaped yard creates a strong first impression, drawing potential buyers in before they even step a foot inside.
- Add a pop of color inside your house. Make a seamless transition from outside to inside by putting a bouquet of flowers in your kitchen or dining room. And don’t be afraid to accessorize with color to make your home come alive.
- Clean your windows. When prospective buyers tour a home, they always look out windows to see the different views, so make sure they can see clearly.
- Make sure all toys are put away. Whether you have children or dogs that like to scatter their toys around the house, find a place to store all the clutter.
“Our real estate agents offer a free, no-obligation consultation where we do a room-by-room analysis of what homeowners should do to get their home ready for sale,” Kevin says.
Exactly real estate agents handle everything from providing an in-depth comparative market analysis to creating a marketing plan to negotiating the final deal for a $4,800 flat fee when selling a home—instead of a percentage of the sale in commission—saving homeowners thousands of dollars.
“We simplify the home-selling process and make it more profitable for homeowners,” Kevin says.
