Howard Hanna real estate agent Melanie Bowen is ready to personally help you find the home of your dreams or maximize the sale of the one you’re in now
By Laura Briedis
Bucking the trend of forming a real estate mega team, Melanie Bowen, of Howard Hanna, has built her business over the past 30 years with a more individualized approach and personal touch.
“I like to follow the real estate transaction from beginning to end and not hand off my clients to someone else,” Melanie says. “I like developing relationships, which often gets lost when working with a team.”
Melanie is well versed working both with buyers and sellers, and also is a relocation specialist. “I work with all types of clients, from first-time home buyers to those selling high-end luxury homes,” says Melanie, who has a degree in psychology from Baldwin-Wallace University.
Though real estate and psychology may seem like unrelated career paths, they have more commonalities than one would think. Melanie has parlayed her skills of being a real estate agent and a psychologist to best help others.
“There is so much more to real estate than just showing homes,” she says. “I can relate to each client and each situation and navigate clients through the many emotions and challenges of buying and selling a home.”
As one of the top producers in the Howard Hanna Strongsville office, she knows this market well. A recipient of the Howard Hanna President’s Circle Award, Melanie ranks in the top five percent nationwide for home sales and always has a pulse on the local market.
With decades of experience in real estate, she has seen it all. From record-high 18 percent mortgage rates in the early 1980s, to the new home construction boom in Strongsville in the 1990s, to the sizzling hot market last year, she has been in the middle of it all.
“We are still in a seller’s market because there is a low inventory of homes and high demand,” Melanie says. “And though we are not seeing upwards of 10-plus offers on homes this year, we are still receiving two or three offers on many homes right now.”
“October is one of our busiest months, year after year for home sales, so it is also a good time for those looking for a home,” says Melanie, noting that she has been working with a couple for two years who were outbid numerous times in multiple offers and finally found their perfect home this fall. “There are less prospective buyers currently looking for homes because of the higher interest rates, so I tell my clients now is the time to buy a home. With less competition, you can get the house you want and then just refinance when the interest rates drop again.”
