How long do vein treatments take?
By Dr. Sonja Stiller, Center for Advanced Vein Care
Summer is a time for outdoor activities: walking, biking, hiking, gardening and vacations—from a week at Myrtle Beach to a day at Cedar Point.
The last thing we want to think about while enjoying these activities is how our legs look and feel. Yet, for many of us, summer fun in the heat can lead to leg swelling, achiness, fatigue and more. All we want to do is find a place to sit and put our feet up.
These symptoms are often the result of a venous health condition such as varicose veins, and patients who suspect they need treatment will sometimes schedule a consultation with us in September, hoping to complete treatment before their deductible resets at the end of the year. Unfortunately, that’s too late.
Varicose vein treatments take time. Not only is there a six-week to three-month compression stocking requirement (depending on your insurance company), but more and more insurers are insisting on a six-week delay after the first treatment before the second treatment can begin. The result is several months from your first consultation to the happy, healthy, attractive legs we all desire.
So don’t wait. Start now—in June. You’ll have a much better chance of concluding your treatments before your deductible resets on January 1. That, and the summer of 2025 may just be your best ever.
Give us a call now if you are suffering from any of the following symptoms: leg pain • swelling • heaviness • fatigue • itching • burning • inflammation • skin discoloration • restless legs syndrome.
