Hamlet at Chagrin Falls promises safe and secure independent living, on 47 lush acres close to town

When you think about aging and what your ideal situation would look like, how does a beautiful, maintenance-free home surrounded by nature, friends and an active community life all while maintaining your independence sound? Hamlet at Chagrin Falls offers all of that and much more for independent seniors, as well as for those needing more assistance. Hamlet is situated on a 47-acre natural setting within the peaceful and picturesque community of Chagrin Falls.
“We have 137 independent living apartments and 85 assisted living residences here,” says director of sales Nadine Hoffman. “Each independent living apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto a beautiful ravine or wooded area that brings constant natural beauty into the residents’ homes. You’re never looking at a parking lot or another building. It’s just one of the many unique things that Hamlet offers residents.”
Each of the independent living apartment buildings at Hamlet has just 12 units, allowing neighbors to become friends while still maintaining their own privacy.
“We have singles and couples, and each building has its own personality,” says Nadine. “Residents will often gather outside in the evenings for happy hour and conversation, take walks or just sit and enjoy the beauty of the grounds. We laugh sometimes and say that these quiet times can be a rarity at Hamlet. There’s so much activity going on, residents can stay very busy if they choose.”
Nadine says there are eight to 10 activities taking place at Hamlet every day of the week. Whether it’s exercise classes with Hector, who has been at Hamlet for 22 years, art museum and orchestra trips or wine tastings, there’s something for everyone here. Being in the heart of the small-town charm that defines Chagrin Falls allows Hamlet residents to take part in all the town has to offer. There’s the annual home tour, Art by the Falls, concerts in the park, or just strolling through town and popping in and out of the shops on Main Street. The proximity to the village makes life at Hamlet that much more appealing.
“Our residents are engaged in this community and volunteer at events around town,” says Nadine. “Chagrin Falls High School has an art exhibit here every year, during which the Atrium is transformed into an art gallery. It’s a packed house.”
Hamlet residents also enjoy free transportation around town. Residents can also have their own cars. Residences are pet-friendly, with cleaning services available to independent living residents for a fee and included for assisted living residents.
Hamlet has partnered with a physical therapy company, Legacy, and therapists come to the residents right in their own apartments if covered by individual insurance plans.
“All apartments also have call buttons available if help is needed,” says Nadine. “We ask that residents call in every morning, and if we don’t hear from them we drop by their apartment to check in. We feel we have the perfect balance between independence while instilling confidence. Our residents know that help is here if they need it and there’s always someone available. This gives them confidence to go ahead and be more active, get out and engage in the community and be social. Hamlet residents gain more independence by being here.”
