Haircuts at Kat Lotus Beauty Lounge start at a ridiculously low $29

Kat Khamvongsouk launched her Kat Lotus Beauty Lounge in Medina in 2013 with a focus on natural nail services. Here you’ll find Shellac and the red-hot-right-now dipping powder for nail enhancement. Manicures are just $20, Shellac manicures are $30, and pedicures are a modest $35.

There is, however, one critical difference between this beauty oasis and others.

“There is no chemical smell,” Kat explains. “We use only eco-friendly polishes and products that don’t contain the harsh, cancer-causing ingredients found in so many beauty products on the market today.”

In fact, Kat spent several years researching to locate a laboratory that today manufactures her line of eco-friendly Kat Lotus polishes. You can find them when you visit for services, or purchase them to use at home.

But an elevated natural manicure with a natural touch isn’t the only affordable option you’ll find here.

Since opening six years ago, Kat has expanded to offer even more budget-friendly beauty, bringing glam to the masses—for less.

“People want to look and feel beautiful, but they don’t always have the means to do all the things they want,” Kat says. “We make every beauty avenue accessible, so you can do more without having to invest a lot.”

Whether you’re visiting for an eco-friendly mani or pedi, a facial, a makeup application, microblading, a haircut, color, blowout, lash lift, dermablading or lash extensions, you can be certain you’re in expert hands.

“I love helping my clients look and feel more beautiful and I’m constantly searching for ways to enhance what we’re doing here by offering more affordable services,” she says. “I want to take our beauty offerings a step beyond what you can find at other places and do those things really well.”

To do that, Kat is constantly reimagining the interior of her space, recently adding an area for yoga and pole dancing adjacent to the in-house boutique that features stunning costume jewelry, magnetic lashes, wigs in trendy lengths and colors, dresses, bath bombs, purses and more. In the works is the addition of lingerie.

“Our focus is on helping women develop their inner and outer beauty,” Kat says. “It’s not limited to just, say, hair and nail services. We offer beauty enhancements that touch every part of the body.”

In keeping with that theme, over the last year Kat added three styling stations in a private room, with haircuts starting at just $29. “People kept asking if we did hair, now we can finally say we do,” she smiles.

Her expert styling team, which includes Sharla Blake and Madison Khamvongsouk, also offers hair color, hair extensions and blowouts. “Blowouts are becoming a wildly popular way to cut down on styling time while amping up a person’s look,” Kat notes.

Lash extensions are another excellent way to make your beauty dollars stretch. They can help you to look and stay beautiful morning, noon and night—without any fuss. Kat prefers synthetic lashes over mink because they look more natural and stay on better, but she does offer both. And to complete the look, she can microblade in a gorgeous set of brows to kick your confidence up a notch.

“A lash lift is another terrific option,” she says. “The result looks like your lashes have been curled and they stay that way for two months.”

Kat Lotus Beauty Lounge also offers a special occasion hair services, which can be paired with a mini facial and makeup application with Jane Iredale products.
