With a laser focus on the welfare of children and families in Lake County, Christ Child Society of the Western Reserve goes above and beyond to give back.

The Christ Child Society of the Western Reserve has been serving the needs of children and families in Lake County for 40 years. Christ Child Society provides clothing and layettes for infants and children, Christmas giving, preschool eye screening, summer camp scholarships called “camperships,” high school scholarships, Parish School of Religion (PSR) funding and more.

“These are things we do on a regular basis and then address needs as they arise,” Chapter President Bobbie McArthur, says. “If there’s a need for children in Lake County, we try to fill it.”

Christ Child Society offers summer camp scholarships to more than ten different camps, scholarships to schools including Lake Catholic High School and Ursuline College, and have recently added eleven public high schools. They also provide literacy programs and the Clothing Comittee helps children in need.

All Christ Child Society programs are funded by donations and fundraisers throughout the year. The Clothing Cottage, a resale shop in Mentor, is staffed and maintained by Christ Child Society volunteers and has no paid employees. All proceeds are a source of income to support their services.

“Clothing Cottage offers new or gently used clothing and jewelry for women, men and children,” Bobbie says. “Our Red Wagon Luncheon is another yearly fundraiser taking place every spring.”

This year, the Red Wagon Luncheon and Auctions are being held on Wednesday, April 26 at Regovich Catering in Eastlake.

“We’ll have a cash raffle offering prizes up to $2,000 and a silent auction with some great items to bid on,” Bobbie says. “Doors open at 10:30 with lunch served at noon and a cash bar available. It’s a fun afternoon and a great way to support the good works of Christ Child Society.”

Limited seating is available now for the Red Wagon Luncheon. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance by April 12 online at ChristChildWesternReserve.org or by check in the mail to the chapter office at 9324 Mentor Ave., Unit 1, Mentor, OH 44060.
