Flavors of fall
By Fred Wisen; Owner, Lake Erie Distillery
We’ve had a super busy summer of attending festivals and community events. With things winding down, we turn our attention to our favorite time of year—fall. Stop in to check out our new fall menu, which includes seven seasonal libations: Toasted Marshmallow Old Fashioned, Caramel Apple Cider Martini, Apple Cider Mule, Maple Pumpkin Coffee, Maple Blueberry, Apple Pie Cocktail and the Endless Summer, which combines blue raspberry syrup with tangy lemonade and vodka.
Next month we move to wintertime. Right before Thanksgiving, we come out with our Winter Whisky, a spicy formula that actually doesn’t have any spices in the recipe. We take two year, barrel-aged whiskey and six weeks before it’s ready to bottle add South American spice wood. The spices are drawn out to leave a rich flavor people tell us tastes like gingerbread. Speaking of the holidays, our customers have already been asking if we will be putting together holiday baskets this year. The answer is, yes. Nothing is quite as thoughtful as an intentionally curated gift of locally made gourmet spirits. Just give us a call and we can put you on the (good) list.
Lake Erie Distillery is located at 4277 Hamann Parkway in Willoughby. The lounge is open for tours, tastings, cocktails and appetizers. Schedule tours online at LakeErieDistillery.com. In addition to the lounge and bottle store at the distillery, you can also buy these spirits at Giant Eagle grocery stores in Chardon, Painesville, Willoughby, Madison and Mentor-on-the-Lake; as well as World Wines and Shoregate Beverage.
