American motivational writer William Arthur Ward, who always looked for the positive in everything, said you can choose to throw stones, to stumble on them, to climb over them, or to build with them.

Creating a successful business doing the latter, Ronnie Stout is making a positive impact on the Northeast Ohio landscape.

Specializing in man-made customized stone, Custom Stone House has found a niche in the home remodeling market.

“Right now, homeowners are putting money into remodeling their homes instead of moving,” says Ronnie. “And they are not just remodeling the inside. They are also sprucing up the outside of their homes. In March alone, we completed 50 stonework projects ranging from installing stone on home exteriors, to adding stone to highlight columns and other home features, to creating outdoor fireplaces and backyard outdoor living spaces. We are also doing more jobs lately where we are covering up old brick with man-made stone.”

Always inspired to design something unique, Custom Stone House installed plywood under this composite deck and then covered it in stonework instead of lattice or wood panels to make a design statement.

With a design center, its own manufacturing plant and expert installers, this locally owned company does it all—design, manufacture, and install.

“We offer 1,500 color options and 2,500 custom styles, featuring Roman quarry, stacked stone, limestone and fieldstone blends,” says Ronnie. “By manufacturing our own stone, people can customize their stonework and get something uniquely theirs, instead of picking from stock colors.”

In its Medina showroom, there are sample boards that offer a starting point, along with a color palette of 40 different colors, to help you home in on your preferences. After you select your color and style, your stone is manufactured in its plant in Lodi.

When Ronnie started the company in 2015, he wanted to offer an affordable option for homeowners by cutting out the middleman. “We have wholesale prices, so rather than going through a supply store you get a better price directly from us,” says Ronnie. “Plus, we offer everything in-house, from helping you design the stonework to manufacturing the stone and installing it.”

Custom Stone House works directly with homeowners who want to remodel their homes, and partners with Drees Homes, K. Hovnanian Homes and 19 other Northeast Ohio custom home builders to supply stone for new construction.

You don’t have to cover your entire home in stone. It makes a stunning accent piece for any home interior or exterior.

In addition to stunning stone foundation accents, Custom Stone House can create a fabulous stone fireplace to match.

“One way to dress up your home is installing a foundation wrap,” says Ronnie. “This is an inexpensive way to improve curb appeal. The stone is applied over the bottom exposed foundation cinder blocks to spruce up your home and increases its value.”

Over the past couple of years, the company also has been installing more backyard hardscapes.

“We can design and build any hardscapes, including outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, stone mailboxes and retaining walls,” says Ronnie, who was a standout baseball pitcher at Medina High School and played professionally in the San Francisco Giants organization before starting his own business. “If you can envision it, we can create it.”
