Couple up with your sweetie and maximize your transformation at MaxStrength Fitness

Much like Bonnie and Clyde, Marc Antony and Cleopatra, and Rhett and Scarlett, when Paul and Anna Snellings combine forces, sparks will fly and big things happen.
In honor of this Valentine’s season, we caught up with the darling duo to uncover their secret sauce for staying in shape.
The tenacious twosome moved to Cleveland from Washington state in 2010 to be closer to their family, especially their two beloved grandchildren. Though the 70-somethings tried out small gyms and a rec center in the area, nothing was a good fit. The classes were too big, the machines always busy.
Then they read a story in Mimi magazine about the unique training protocol at MaxStrength Fitness and decided to give it a try.
“We were most interested in improving balance, strength and flexibility,” says Paul, who notes that before coming to MaxStrength he was having back soreness after his weekly golf league. Anna’s goal also included weight loss and building muscle tone, something she’s struggled with over the years.
They had a wonderful experience with their first training sessions and haven’t missed many since, showing up faithfully at the studio every Monday and Thursday afternoon.
What Keeps Them Coming Back?
It’s all about the experience (and, of course, the results).
“We’ve worked out with other trainers, but there’s a higher degree of professionalism at this studio,” says Paul. “There’s always a trainer waiting for us at the door when we arrive. We never have to wait. And there aren’t lots of other people working out at the same time. The trainers follow along with us on the equipment, always checking our form and adding or reducing the resistance on the machines as needed.”
Anna truthfully shares that the workouts are far from easy. “During the sessions, I feel as if my muscles are pushed to fatigue, but it feels wonderful long after you leave. The 20-minute session goes by quickly. And the workouts change, so they don’t get boring. One thing I love about the sessions is that they keep the studio temps pleasantly chilly. You never get hot or sweaty.”
Nothing Else Like This out There
The Snellings are not unlike countless Clevelanders over the past 15-plus years who have found results at MaxStrength. Founder Jeff Tomaszewski feels their reputation for attracting fans and transforming lives lies in the science-backed formula he honed.
“We are unlike other gyms in that we don’t want you here all the time,” he explains. “Because the twice-weekly, 20-minute workouts are intense—triggering adaptive change in muscles by pushing them to the point of failure, and then allowing them time to fully rebuild between workouts—it makes us a perfect fit with busy people.
The Snellings are passionate about travel, exploring exotic destinations such as Hawaii and Antarctica. They have no plans of slowing down. On their travel docket for this July is a long-awaited trip to Italy with their grandchildren.
