CLEAgents Platinum Real Estate helps senior clients and their families sell with confidence
By Patricia Nugent
As a certified life coach, trainer and empowerment speaker, Wendy Kunash brings a unique perspective to leading her top-producing team—CLEAgents Platinum Real Estate.
Since oftentimes real estate agents are contacted after a loved one has moved into senior care or has passed away, Wendy decided to take a proactive approach to provide clients with education, tools and resources ahead of time to best prepare for the later years of housing options.
“It can be overwhelming for a family to get a handle on all the things to do with a property…whether to empty it, sell it to clear an estate or for Medicaid, to improve it to sell for top dollar, or just sell it as is,” she says.
Through her team’s new Senior Care Solutions, she and her agents became certified in probate and have forged relationships with key resources to help clients selling a loved one’s home to move to senior living or who have passed away.
“We can quickly get our vendors out to buy items, donate items, auction them, clear the house with a dumpster of remaining items and have it cleaned,” she adds. “From here, most do not want to invest their own monies into improving the property to market it for top dollar, instead they want to be rid of it ASAP. It is a huge burden to inherit a house and now they’re stuck doing all the work while they manage their own families at home and work full time.”
Timing is critical. Wendy says they can do more for you the earlier you call.
“As a society, we need to stop waiting until the elderly need to make their final move before there is a plan, and we want to honor their final wishes as well,” she says. “We arm people with helpful information and provide a knowledgeable shoulder to lean on. The layers of emotions and stressful family dynamics can be divisive and devastating. Our goal is to lay the groundwork to avoid that.”
Bringing Value
Moving into her 20th year in real estate, she says training, coaching and growing in her industry has always been important to her. Wendy hails from Lake County, with her team agents, Kerri Philips from Ashtabula County and Andrew Shupp from Geauga County, allowing them to effectively cover a wide area across Northeast Ohio.
“I want to lend value to every interaction,” says Wendy, who was born in Korea and moved to Lake County when she was 5 years old. “Taking the lead when people are dealing with senior issues is part of that.”
Her charitable efforts are impressive. She founded The Jacob Rago Memorial Fund along with her sister after losing her young nephew to cancer. She’s also made a difference by partnering with A Special Wish foundation to grant wishes to children from the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals having autoimmune diseases. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for the United Way.
Because of her community involvement and generosity, Wendy was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Lake and Geauga Association of Realtors.
Wendy’s clients who’ve relied on her to help when a loved one passed away comment on her professionalism and expertise in their five-star reviews.
Jeff S. of Painesville says, “When my father passed, his house went into probate and I was totally lost on what to do. Wendy Kunash at Platinum Real Estate guided me through the complex procedures and assisted me until it was completed with the courts. Her expertise in probate was a great help and I couldn’t have completed it without her.”
