Summer is coming to an end and fall is just around the corner. In Northeast Ohio, we welcome fall with festivals celebrating the season.

The Apple Butter Festival at Century Village Museum in Burton is an annual event celebrating all things fall, along with the treasured local tradition of making apple butter.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the fall foliage and crisp autumn air while watching the traditional method of making apple butter and enjoying the aroma of simmering apples as skilled artisans create this sweet treat.

And if you want to do more than just watch, visitors can participate in the age-old process of cooking the apples in large copper kettles over an open flame. Because of the long hours of the festival, the apple butter makers rely on visitors and volunteers to help with the process by taking turns stirring the apple butter to sweet perfection. The Ox Roast is also back this year. Come and enjoy a delicious meal with your family, and don’t forget to grab some apple butter.

And there’s so much more to see and experience at the Apple Butter Festival for visitors of all ages.

Century Village Museum offers historical demonstrations that transport visitors back in time. From blacksmithing to woodworking, attendees can witness craftspeople showcasing traditional skills and techniques that were once essential to rural life.

Set amidst the picturesque landscapes of Geauga County, Century Village Museum provides a charming backdrop for the festival. Visitors can stroll through the historic village, admire restored buildings and take in the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside.

The historic buildings of Century Village Museum will be open to visitors throughout the festival hours with vendors offering everything from potpourri and handmade candles to kettle corn and, of course, apple cider and other apple treats like pies and jars of fresh apple butter.

The Crossroads Museum Store also will be open for shoppers looking for locally made art and food products.
