T.L. Champion

Within each of us, there is a fascinating story to tell. However, few people have the time, talent, and expertise to write a book.

T.L. Champion has spent decades honing her craft as a ghostwriter to help dozens of clients publish their memoirs. She founded Legacy Ghostwriting in 1998.

“People often ask me what it means to be a ghostwriter,” she says. “I capture each client’s voice and honor their story in a meaningful way. I prefer working with aspiring authors over the age of 50 because they have more experience with lessons learned for current and future generations.”

Sometimes, the resulting book is a nonfiction memoir and other times, T.L. works with the client to add fictional characters and dialogue to heighten the story. She also works with people who want to share their principles and philosophies through a self-help book.

Helping people put their lives in print has led to some exciting stories. She recalls one that detailed the heroic journey of a woman who ran a maximum-security prison with inmates on death row. Another was the legacy of a man who fought Joe Frazier for the heavyweight title during his college years.

T.L.’s process starts with a detailed interview. Then, she starts writing and submitting the work for author approval chapter by chapter. After that, the book is edited.

She even helps create an inviting cover design that speaks to its content. To promote a book after publication, T.L. creates a 30-second video trailer for her clients to post on their websites or social media.

“We lay their book out according to Amazon’s specifications and upload it for them,” she says. “At that point, they can add ‘internationally published author’ to their resumes.”
