The Lake County General Health District WIC program is a federally funded government organization offering education, supplemental nutrition and additional help for eligible pregnant women, new mothers and infants and children up to age 5.

The WIC program offers breastfeeding support and advice, infant feeding classes and support groups covering both the physical and emotional issues involved with motherhood. WIC recently added a milk drop site that feeds NICU babies in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

For moms who qualify for WIC, the support is critical for them and for their children. Our goal is to assist with everything it takes to do the best for baby.

WIC is staffed by dietitians and other health professionals and mentors who check in with mothers routinely to make sure mother and baby are meeting their set goals. Most pregnant mothers enrolled in the WIC program come in weekly and help is always a phone call away.

At WIC, we know that every pregnancy, mother and baby are different. We offer support to every mother and child in every situation without judgement. No one is meant to do this alone, and our goal is to achieve better health outcomes for both mother and child.
