After growing up enjoying his favorite brews at the Arabica Coffee House in historic downtown Willoughby, and then spending most of his career working there and at other local coffeehouses, Tim Snider is a little particular about the quality of his brew.

Five years ago, he and his wife Tina bought Arabica, and they’ve been crafting a next-level coffeehouse experience ever since.

The charming and rustic, cozy and inviting downtown Willoughby destination includes a meeting space that seats 10—the Willoughby Room, which people can reserve for group gatherings, or pop in for Zoom meetings. With large and small tables, as well as a soup counter, this has become the local choice for folks meeting friends or hanging out alone with their laptop to get a break from working from home.

“I create all the coffee drinks myself,” says Tim, noting that his favorite choice is straight black coffee. “Right now, we’re transitioning from fall to holiday varieties, with Peppermint Mochas, Whoville Matcha and Egg Nogs coming onto the menu. For a high level of consistency, we’ve partnered with the same local roaster for more than 50 years.”

Arabica has also earned a rep for super creative dishes, from breakfast sandwiches to soups and deli sandwiches, and a dizzying array of baked goods and desserts. (Don’t miss the cheesecake.)

Anyone looking for a darling holiday or hostess gift for the coffee drinker in their life will find it here. There’s a nice variety of giftable coffees by the pound and adorable serving ware, as well as the ever-popular gift cards.

While over the years trends have changed (superfood additions like charcoal, turmeric and beet root are quite popular), a lot has stayed the same.

“Being a local landmark and an involved part of the community is important to us,” he says.
