April is national car care month, so now is a perfect time to focus on taking care of your car.

It’s been suffering through a long winter of road salt, so I recommend you give it a nice bath, paying special attention to the undercarriage, whether at a car wash or with your hose at home.

Salt is terrible for your car’s exterior, lurking in hidden places and eating away at the metal, leading to rust.

A good seasonal safety inspection of your car should cover other areas that can be negatively impacted by winter, such as steering and suspension, battery, tires and alignment.

How are your wiper blades? They only last an average of six to nine months. Maintaining a clear windshield, especially during inclement weather, is an important safety measure.

We also check the cabin air filter, which cleans the air that circulates in your passenger cabin. With pollen season nearly here, the air you breathe while driving should be fresh.

And this is supposed to be a busy summer for road trips, so you should make sure your tires have a good tread on them to save you from hydroplaning.

Bill Snow grew up working on race cars and ran a shop while in college. After being in the corporate world for years, he decided to get back to the car industry and bought the local Rad Air.
