“For seniors who are accustomed to a premium level of hospitality and finer accommodations, we provide a friendly neighborhood complete with chef-prepared meals, elegant décor, charming social spaces and luxurious, smartly designed suites.” —Danbury Executive Director Scott DePriest

Whether the best fit is independent, assisted or memory care, the staff at Danbury has created programming to allow seniors to participate in as little, or as much, as they choose. Their tagline is “Experience the Danbury difference”.

Residents enjoy an elegant dining room with walls of windows overlooking a rolling landscape and pond. The rustic pub for happy hours features an Amish-made sliding barn door that leads onto an adjoining bistro with jukebox and shuffleboard. There’s a movie theater that shows all the latest flicks.

The fitness center offers state-of-the-art machines customized to fit seniors, from treadmills and elliptical trainers to bikes and weights and a full schedule of exercise classes meet active seniors' emphasis on flexibility and balance.

One of the many recreational pursuits is the bird aviaries constructed throughout the common areas. Residents get to watch brightly colored families of exotic finches frolic together, and settle down to build nests for their eggs and babies.

The staff at Danbury encourages bird watching as a group activity. Residents cut up different colors of yarn to place in the aviaries so the birds weave them into nests that are as beautiful and vibrant as they are.

A Full Spectrum of Care for Aging in Place
Most of the 101 suites in the 90,000-square-foot community look out onto rolling green spaces, woodlands and a pond behind white picket fence porches. Seven spacious floor plans range from studios to one- and two-bedroom residences, with a host of options to customize them.

Seniors can age in place at Danbury, remaining in their suite if their care needs escalate. If they need assistance in their daily tasks, such as help with pets or aid in getting dressed, they can easily add those choices without having to move to a different suite.

For the safety and well being of residents, everyone wears a pendant to call for help if needed, and each suite includes a call bell system. Around-the-clock nursing care, on-site physical therapy, linen service and housekeeping are also available.

Amenities Indoors and Out
The host of life enrichment programs spans three categories:

1. Daily – crafts, computer time, exercise facility with classes and the hair salon are always available

2. Special guest or event - experts come in and run classes at Danbury with topics of interest for seniors (from downsizing to diabetes care), as well as painting or cooking demonstrations. Seasonal parties allow residents to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with their families.

3. Outings - from apple picking and trips to Amish country to Indians games and outlet shopping, residents are transported to local hot spots. The Danbury bus will escort residents anywhere they wish to go within a 10-mile radius.

Secure, Supportive Memory Care
The 32 studios within the Memory Care wing are designed to suit the dementia patient. Four lifestyle stations providing an opportunity to revisit the past through familiar objects range from a campground to a travel center and two baby changing stations.
