Your child can learn about the foundation of America

Liberty Camp Geauga was created by a small group of concerned citizens who heeded the words of George Washington.
“The primary object should be the education of our youth….the future guardians of the liberties of our country,” he said.
Liberty Camp Geauga teaches history to students in grades first through seventh in a fun, participative way as time travelers. Campers walk through a portal and are transported to the 1700s, where they live the life of a colonist during the time of the Revolutionary War. Re-enactors share the issues that lead to the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States of America. The cost of freedom becomes real as campers participate in a recreation of the Boston Tea Party, walk across icy waters just as George Washington and his troops did when crossing the Delaware, and sign their own Declaration of Independence with a quill and ink.
Campers see, hear and feel the patriotism of America’s founding citizens. They witness the value of hard work as James Madison and Thomas Jefferson struggle to create the documents that are foundational to America today. Rules of the government of a republic become clear and are understood. Patrick Henry impresses upon them that liberty is priceless and encourages them to stand strong as patriots.
As a patriot, campers pledge to honor God, America and family. Teens age 13 and older participate as Teen Patriots who assist group leaders and re-enactors and share in the learning as they gain new confidence in leadership roles. From the games and fare of the day to the closing ceremony, Liberty Camp Geauga creates a memorable experience for all.
Liberty Camp Geauga is an educational day camp for students in grades first through seventh at Camp Chickagami located on Route 168 six miles south of Burton Square. The camp takes place Monday-Friday, July 22-26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp operates 100 percent on a volunteer basis. Registration is priced at just $50 and $20 for Teen Patriots.
