A bathroom is more than just a place to wash, brush, floss and flush. Elevating the status of what is often one of the smallest rooms in the house to a sanctuary, Impact Design & Remodeling is turning bathrooms into a place where you can relax and rejuvenate.

“Whether you want to renovate your existing bathroom or build a new home spa, let us make an impact,” says Joe Chiera, who, along with his wife, Kristen, owns this local business. “We can design and build a trendy bathroom, but one that is also timeless.”

Incorporating Bathroom Trends

To turn your bathroom into a room with a calming spa vibe, here are the top five design features that are trending right now.

• Wet rooms. Homeowners who like an open-concept living room and kitchen design are opting for a similar feel in the master bathroom by combining the shower and tub in one tiled waterproof room. “This gives you more of a spa-type room in which everything can get wet,” notes Joe. “We can create a wet room in any area that is at least 6-by-10 feet, so you don’t necessarily need a huge space.”

Frameless showers. Exuding a more contemporary look, a curbless shower not only provides a more open design, it also allows homeowners to age in place since access to the shower is much easier as you don’t have to step up or over a raised frame.

• Freestanding tubs. “The built-in jetted tubs that were prevalent in the 1990s and early 2000s are giving way to a freestanding tub,” says Joe. “A modern twist on the old clawfoot tubs, they provide the same elegance but with sleeker lines and a contemporary feel.”

• Farmhouse-inspired colors. No, we are not talking about red barns, but modern farmhouse colors such as white, gray and black. “We use soothing colors mixed with white for a fresh, clean look,” says Joe. “And the ever-popular white subway tiles work in both traditional and contemporary bathrooms.”

• Nooks and niches. “Whether niches in the tiled shower to hold soaps and shampoos or recessed shelves on the walls, you can add pops of color that can change seasonally,” says Joe.

Adding Extra Living Space
In addition to building and renovating bathrooms, Impact Design & Home Remodeling can add more functional space to your home.

“We help homeowners optimize their square footage by finishing a basement or adding living space outdoors and sprucing up the landscaping,” says Joe.

In addition to building and renovating bathrooms, Impact Design & Remodeling can add more functional space to your home by finishing a basement or adding living space outdoors.

“We can add bedrooms, bathrooms, theater rooms and even kitchens in a basement. And the possibilities outside are endless as you can add a deck, patio, pergola and other hardscapes that define your outdoor space.”

“We can take care of all things related to your home,” he adds. “Whether you want to remodel your bathroom or kitchen, finish your basement or add a patio and install a waterfall or fountain outdoors, we can make your home beautiful inside and out.”
