Brian Erickson’s popular flooring store, Floorz, located in Strongsville and Montrose, is open for business with a reduced staff and limited hours—Monday-Saturday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
“We’re a key part of the essential construction trade and we feel blessed to be able to continue operating,” Brian says.
“While more of our total business has shifted to empty new construction homes and local contractors, we’re still doing plenty of residential installations ourselves, while taking extra precautions and following CDC protocols. We’re here for you at your discretion, whether it’s today or down the road.”
One fun way to do business with Floorz right now is to visit their website and explore the “visualizer” function, available from some of their carpet, tile and flooring manufacturers.
“You simply take a photo of your space and upload it,” Brian says. “When you choose different flooring options, it shows you what that floor will look like in your own home. Our customers love it. You can place an order and we’ll either deliver it to you or install it. You don’t even have to come into the store.”
The LVT Leader
Floorz is an area leader in the popular luxury vinyl tile (LVT)/waterproofing category, carrying product lines from many different manufacturers.
“Many people think of LVT as planks that mimic wood, stone or tile laid in a standard pattern straight across the floor,” Brian says. “But today, we can get really creative. We can do darker LVT wood planks as a border. We can install planks at a 45-degree angle to add drama, or even do a stunning herringbone pattern.”
While carpet is still popular, hard surfaces—tile, wood, LVT and plank—make up more than two-thirds of his business. “Karastan has a new wood and LVT line that people love,” Brian says. “That company has over 90 years of experience. And Coretec’s high-quality LVT tile and plank just keeps getting better. Plus, their new Coretec Stone looks like ceramic tile but goes down like luxury vinyl. I’m really proud of the amazing quality we can offer our customers these days.”
Today’s luxury vinyl tile is also versatile, durable and waterproof.
Value and Affordability
Think you’ll get a better deal on flooring at a big box store? You probably won’t. Take carpet, for example.
“Our carpet prices include the carpet, padding and installation,” Brian says. “So when you look at the entire project—whether it’s carpet, tile or LVT—we regularly beat the prices at big box stores. When they promise free installation, trust me. It’s not really free.”
While Floorz installs flooring in some of the area’s most affluent homes, they also sell to rental property owners and “flippers.”
“Years ago, we started our business selling to people who were flipping houses,” Brian says. “Affordability is in our company’s DNA. No matter what the size of your project is, we’re going to help you find the right product at the best price to fit any budget. We even offer in-stock, cash-and-carry flooring.”
Getting Started
Floorz can work directly with you or with your builder or remodeler. They deliver and install everything they sell and even do complete bathroom renovations.
“Our full-service installation means we do it all,” Brian says.
“We don’t leave you hanging. We professionally remove old hard surface flooring, take up shoe molding and baseboards, and adjust floor and door jamb heights accordingly. We’re a flooring store, but we’re also a construction company. We even do custom finishing of shoe molding so it matches your existing baseboards. Many stores just won’t go to those lengths.”
