When we launched The Maids’ “Tell us your Wow!” contest this summer, we had no idea where it would lead.

We got a big response, with many of The Maids customers telling the story of how they have been delighted by the locally owned cleaning service.

It was a difficult choice, but two entries really stood out—and the third winner was a slightly different story.

Hi Mimi,
We have had The Maids come many times and they are the best! They are prompt, and verify what you would like done, schedule a visit quickly and are truly reasonable, dependable and friendly.
What I like most are the “extra touches” they provide. It may not seem like much, but it means the world to me. The paper towels and toilet paper are folded into a triangle just like at a hotel. In addition to that, they arrange my things in a unique way. “I like that and I often continue to keep them the same way even after the team has left. It gives me new ideas for refreshing other items around my house. I especially love the feeling when I come home, and the house is beautiful and cleaned from top to bottom.
They do a great job and I’m always happy with them. Ever since I had both of my hips replaced and recently my knee replaced, they are a Godsend. Without them I would not be able to keep up with the work in the house. I would not hesitate to recommend The Maids.

And...

What is it like to be a first-time The Maids client? It was a lot of fun. The ladies got a big kick out of our dogs’ antics. The head lady told me she spent extra time on the couch because she could see that it was well-used by at least one dog. Later I strolled into the kitchen to find one of the gals on her hands and knees polishing the cross pieces supporting the bar stools. I don’t think that had ever been done before. At one point I heard music and went into the kitchen/dining area to find everyone singing and dancing as they cleaned. The ladies all seemed to be having a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoying their cleaning. You can be sure they will be welcomed back after completing such a thorough and thoughtful job.

Rosie and Syd will receive a free cleaning on the date of their choice, between now and Friday, December 13.

The third winner was never a customer of The Maids. We were, however, touched by her plea—as was Mike Manhoff, owner of The Maids of Northeast Ohio.

My daughter Holly is 56 years old. She’s got two kinds of cancer. She would love this.
Thank you,

When I read this to Mike, his response was, “Who could ever turn this lady down?

Then Mike remembered that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That’s when a brilliant idea came from a big-hearted business owner.

“Let’s do this,” Mike said enthusiastically. “Let’s do another giveaway but in a much bigger way. You put it in the September Mimi (that would be here, reader). Let everyone who has breast cancer know that we will give away one free clean for every day we are open for the entire month of October. That’s a lot of free home cleanings for some deserving breast cancer patients. Just ask them to tell us why they could use a free house cleaning and you have the team at Mimi choose the winners based on their stories. I just hope we can make a small difference for some of these women.”

To enter, simply email Mimi, at mimi@mimivanderhaven.com and explain in just a few words how a free cleaning by The Maids will help you or a loved one. Be sure to put “The Maids” in the subject line, and include your name, email address and phone number.

The winning entries will be chosen to receive a free house cleaning and an opportunity to appear in Mimi Magazine (if they choose). This contest ends Friday, October 22. No purchase is necessary to win. The winners will be announced in the 11/14/19 issue of Mimi.
