Brothers Paul and Jason Cirino say with pride the furniture business is in their blood. Their father, Paul Sr., started working in furniture sales back in the 1970s.

“I still remember being a boy of about 10 and doing odd jobs for my dad, like putting lamps together,” says Jason. “Hard work and building solid relationships with the customer were the lessons my father taught us, and that we still rely on today. We are as much in the people business as we are the furniture business.”

It’s fitting that in December they opened the doors of their newest showroom—The Cleveland Furniture Company—in the same location as the former Basista Furniture in Parma, a family operation for 97 years that closed last year upon the family’s retirement.

“Our tagline is, ‘family-owned and Cleveland-proud,’” says Jason. “We love the new centralized location. You just can’t get more Cleveland than Parma.”

And family matters in every aspect of the brothers’ business. When they purchased the operation, they kept on all of the existing employees.

Every Style, Every Budget, Every Person
“We offer a diverse selection of styles and price points,” he says. “You will find furniture here you won’t find anywhere else, whether it’s family and living room sofas and sectionals, dining sets, tables, barstools, recliners, bedroom sets, mattresses or all of the accessories to make a room come to life like wall art, lamps, vases and show plants.”

Paul and Jason travel throughout the year to the manufacturer shows in North Carolina, Las Vegas and Tupelo, Mississippi, which is the upholstery capital of the country.

“We are very picky about what we bring back to Ohio, only going with finely crafted pieces,” he says. “In addition to Amish-made furniture, we also offer several lines that allow you to customize fabric. We try to stay ahead of the game when it comes to styles.”

In addition to the mind-boggling selection housed in the 40,000-square-foot showroom, Jason reports their customers love the immediacy of having more than 75 percent of the furniture available for immediate delivery. He also mentions that all of their service and delivery people are in house, and they do not subcontract anyone.

The Design Squad
“We don’t just sell furniture,” says Jason. “We help people create their dream home. But many folks don’t have a clear idea of what their style is or how to put things together to make their home functional yet a true reflection of their taste. That’s why we put together the Design Squad of interior designers.”

Whether you buy a $399 sofa, a $3,999 sofa, or any piece of furniture in the showroom, a member of the Squad will come to your home free of charge and help you select the best piece.

What styles are the hottest right now? Rustic farmhouse is big, Jason says, with many pieces featuring distressed wood, sliding barn doors and slatted wood tables, along with vintage posters as wall art. (Don’t miss the rustic farmhouse room upstairs.) But there are also many glamorous modern pieces, such as mirrored tables.

Look for a room with chandeliers soon to join the plethora of lamps and lighting fixtures, from modern elegant to whimsical and funky.
