The 2018 Lake County YMCA Dream House promises to be a showstopper

If the unveiling of design boards from the dream team behind the 25th Lake County YMCA Dream House is as spectacular as the house itself, we are in for a rare treat.

These crazy talented interior designers were gracious enough to invite Mimi to their recent showcase luncheon so she could share with you a sneak peek before the doors of the house open in six weeks.

Designed and built by JEMM Construction of Painesville, the 4,400-square-foot, two-story colonial is a reflection of on-trend design innovation.

Here are a few of the “wow” ideas you’ll discover:

  • Wall treatments that mingle 3D and organic elements. In the great room, zircon gemstones embedded in a wall bring the outdoors in, and in a child’s bedroom, a fantasy tree springs to life with a mural of shimmering faux-painting surrounding the bed.
  • Don’t miss the striking metalwork sculpture by renowned artist Jerry Schmidt. Commissioned especially for the Dream House, it’s valued at more than $17,000 and holds court over a modern white quartz fireplace that stretches across one wall in the great room.
  • Matte is having a moment. Many of the quartz counters sport a matte finish rather than smooth-shiny. It lends a more textured, natural feel. And look for dramatic effects, such as a waterfall counter spilling over and down the cabinetry in the kitchen.
  • Tranquility rules in the home’s soothing palette of Sherwin Williams-selected shades of cream, pale gray, dusty rose, ocean blue and plum.

The Lake County YMCA Dream House is located at 5360 Highland Way in Mentor. Doors open for tours Saturday, June 30, and run through Sunday, August 5.
