Although podiatrist Dr. Danielle Shaper, founder of Finesse Footcare, is still seeing patients in her Lyndhurst medical offices, she’s also been seeing patients virtually through telehealth services.

“In our office, we’re practicing social distancing and are working with limited staff,” she says. “And I am only seeing patients in need of acute care. It’s important for the health of my patients to keep them out of urgent care facilities and hospital ERs to limit the risk of exposure. Non-urgent cases are being treated virtually.”

She says all patients need is a camera-enabled screen, whether via their phone, tablet or computer, and an email. You don’t have to download any software for the HIPAA-compliant CHR platform. They just send you a passcode and you follow a link.

“Once patients set up a portal account, they can access their records, medications and clinical summaries of past visits 24/7 going forward, which is nice,” she says.

Dr. Shaper can see a range of foot ailments and prescribe medications if needed.

“Of course for those coming to the office for appointments who are in pain and in need of hands-on care, I am using every precaution suggested by the CDC, including wearing a mask and gloves, and scheduling 15 minutes between appointments so I can thoroughly sterilize the treatment room, waiting room and office space.”

As a full-service podiatrist, Dr. Shaper treats most foot and ankle issues, such as ingrown toenails, bunions, heel pain, hammertoes and plantar fasciitis to avoid surgery, corns and fungal toenails. She can prescribe orthotics, offer sports medicine and perform surgery. She also offers basic routine foot care, geriatric and diabetic footcare.

With 10 years of experience in the field, Dr. Shaper has a unique understanding of footcare, as she is a ballet dancer and understands the dynamics of the foot and how that impacts our everyday lives.

By summer, look for her to debut a new non-thermal laser treatment for fungal toenails. This breakthrough FDA-cleared, low-level laser therapy is effective and touchless.

Finesse Footcare is located at 5035 Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst. Same-day appointments, whether in-person or virtual, are usually available.
