Sinick Family Dental is offering care that redefines the traditional dental model
By Beth Newcomb
Some doctors grow up in a medical family, but Drs. Christopher and Jessica Sinick are two local dentists who created one.
“We met in dental school,” Dr. Christopher says with a smile. “She was a year ahead of me. We both went to The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and after we got married we moved to Medina. Now, this is where we are raising our two children.”
Three years ago, Dr. Christopher bought an existing dental office in Medina and relaunched it as Sinick Family Dental.
Dr. Jessica was in private practice locally, but after giving birth to the couple’s second beautiful bundle of joy, she decided to join him at their Medina location. The couple have two children, Chase, two years, and Vivian, three months.
They want to make every visit to the dentist an enjoyable experience. To make this a reality, they have committed themselves to doing things differently than most dental offices by going above and beyond the traditional standards.
My Dentist Doesn’t Do That
“In addition to general dentistry, we do a lot of specialty work here,” Dr. Jessica explains.
“I did a year-long training program dedicated to the placement and restoration of implants. My husband, Christopher, has spent much of his time perfecting the skill of root canal therapy.”
The doctors can address most procedures in their office, without the need for patients to be referred elsewhere. In fact, Drs. Christopher and Jessica have made it a point to keep their focus on incorporating the latest technological advancements into the practice, so same-day crowns are possible along with Invisalign braces, veneers, digital X-rays and nitrous oxide for kids or nervous patients.
“Our focus is on utilizing every available dental resource to enhance the smiles and lives of our patients,” Dr. Jessica says. “And our dental family can treat everyone in your family, from toddlers to seniors.”
Mercury Free
Sinick Family Dental is a mercury-free zone, and one of less than a handful of practices in Ohio to provide a mercury-safe patient environment.
“When we remove older mercury fillings, we take extra precautions to make sure the patient’s exposure is minimal,” Dr. Christopher explains.
“Patients breathe 100 percent oxygen during the mercury removal process, and we use a special suction device that wraps around the tooth to collect debris, which is then disposed of responsibly. We also have an air purifier, filtering out mercury vapors produced during the removal of the old fillings.”
The toxicity of heavy metals like mercury, the doctors say, can have a link to a number of diseases.
“When you are having those fillings removed the best way to minimize your risk is to go through the extra precautions we take and replace those fillings with something biocompatible. If you are concerned, we can help,” Dr. Christopher says.
The Vibe
People feel happy here,” Dr. Jessica says.
“We go above and beyond in all areas. We take more than three times the required continuing educations courses each and every year. We also choose the best courses we can find so that we will have the latest techniques, technology and equipment along with the knowledge of how and when to use them. In addition to our regularly scheduled monthly courses across the state of Ohio, we are scheduled to go to trips across the U.S. including in San Antonio, TX and Scottsdale, AZ in the next six months. Attending these courses taught by some of the best dentists in the nation, allows us to offer our patients the latest procedures and technologies in a relaxing, homey environment.”
“We take our service to the next level, too,” Dr. Christopher adds.
“Just this morning a patient came in with a dental emergency and she was crying because she’d had a bad experience at a different dental office. When she left she was happy and smiling. That is our goal. We don’t just want to meet our patient’s expectations, we want to exceed them.”
Colette H. wrote in her online review,
“I was in quite a jam with my tooth as a result of a not-so-great experience with an out-of-town dental emergency. The staff and doctor at Sinick Family Dental were helpful and inviting. The efficiency, professionalism and quality of care was incredible. I would highly recommend them to my family and friends. Thank you so much!”
The doctors’ patient-centric practice methods extend to considering the fact that most people work during the day and can’t take time away from their job to visit the dentist.
“We’ve structured our hours to be very patient friendly,” Dr. Jessica says. “We have early morning appointments and late day appointments, so there is never a reason for someone to miss a visit. We are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.”
Dental emergencies are a no-hassle experience, as both doctors are available after hours should the need arise.
All in the Family
Hanging on the wall at Sinick Family Dental is a collage of family photos featuring the doctors on their wedding day and their children at different ages. It’s a warm look at the lives of two people who have created a homey environment in which to practice, and a reflection of their dedication to not only their family but also yours.
“Our plan was always to be in practice together,” Dr. Christopher says.
“It’s exciting for us to finally be able to bring our talents together under one roof as partners in life and in business. Medina is our home, personally and professionally, and we look forward to providing years of exceptional service to the people of this community.”
