Willowick’s hottest new hangout—Hemp Spot—is part wellness boutique, part coffee bar, part social hour patio.

This novel concept of hemp-based store, CBD shop and coffeehouse is the brainchild of Brian Lytle and Chad Gourley, both Willowick natives with backgrounds in personal training. For the past several years, Brian has been involved in the manufacture and distribution of hemp CBD products, which makes him a natural fit to provide products that are as low priced, if not lower, than you’d find online.

“Hemp is one of the most nutritious natural food sources on the planet,” says Brian. “It’s gluten-free and jam-packed with vitamins and minerals—perfect for boosting optimal performance of body and mind.”

As trainers, the gentlemen are familiar with the soothing effects of hemp CBD on aching muscles and joints, as well as its health benefits like reducing inflammation.

Products run the gamut from oils and edibles to flour for cooking, and, of course, the amazing CBD-infused gourmet coffee they serve by the urn.

The Skinny on Hemp CBD
Although CBD products have been enormously popular of late, there are still folks out there who think they might produce the “high” of marijuana.

The trained consultants at Hemp Spot are here to patiently explain the difference. CBD, or cannabidiol, is safe, non-addictive and does not produce a psychoactive effect like marijuana.

In fact, the World Health Organization has come out with a list of conditions that CBD could potentially treat, from arthritis and cardiovascular disease to depression.

Wondering which product might be right for you? The consultants here ask a lot of questions and can help recommend the best ones. They even tap into proprietary software that matches desired benefits to products.

At Hemp Spot, they serve delicious regular and CBD-infused gourmet coffee.

Their top-sellers include:
• Hemp Hearts, nutritious shelled hemp seeds with a slightly nutty taste like sunflower seeds.
• Hemp Fruit and Nut Bars in a variety of flavors, such as Mango Macadamia and Cherry Walnut. (Chad says the hands-down staff pick is the Brownie Bar.)
• Hemp gelato in several tantalizing flavors.
• CBD Muscle & Joint Relief Gel to ease post-workout or age-related aches and pains.

Brian says the popularity of cooking with hemp is growing. He has authored a cookbook available on their website called “50 Healthy Hemp CBD Infused Recipes” loaded with culinary delights.

“We came up with these recipes to help people boost their immunity—so important right now—and maintain a healthy diet fortified by nutrient-dense, high-protein hemp CBD,” he says.

Chad is similarly passionate about their products and hopes one day hemp will wind up on the food pyramid.

“We’re here to be agents of change, both in revitalizing this neighborhood and boosting the health and wellness of our neighbors,” says Chad.

Hemp Spot’s third and newest location is located at 28801 Lakeshore Boulevard in Willowick.

Giving Back to the Community
Giving back to the community is a mission of the store.

“We plan to work with The Willoughby Eastlake Success Academy, and donate part of our proceeds to them,” says Brian. “We also look forward to collaborating with other businesses in the neighborhood, including local gyms and fitness studios.”

Hemp Spot is located at 28801 Lakeshore Boulevard in Willowick. You must be 18 years of age to buy or sample CBD products. Other locations are in downtown Cleveland by CSU, at 288 Euclid Corridor and a satellite store within The Salt Cave of Mentor. Hemp Spot plans to open 500 more locations over the next five years.
