Metropolitan Design Group offers inspired home design and accessories

You never know where you will find inspiration. For Jenifer Bemis, owner of Metropolitan Design Group, it started with binge watching “Schitt’s Creek” during the Covid shutdown and being drawn to its inspiring story line where one of the characters opens a boutique.
A proud graduate of Kent State University’s interior design program, Jenifer founded her interior design firm in 2002 and has designed everything from libraries to hospitals, businesses and homes. But after watching this popular sitcom, she was inspired to open a boutique this fall to complement her design services.
Located in Bath, the beautifully curated home accessories and gift gallery is filled with fabulous finds. You’ll find exquisite home accessories, cabinet hardware, serving pieces, pillows, rugs, wall coverings, seasonal décor, jewelry and antiques.
Jenifer has traveled coast to coast to find unique items including wind chimes made by a California artist and sterling silver jewelry from New Jersey.
“We carry items that are perfect for your home décor or for gift giving—and even high-end dog collars and leashes made in New England that I happened upon when I was doing a design project in Cape Cod,” says Jenifer, who fosters dogs and volunteers at a pet rescue.
“My boutique and design services go hand in hand, as they both give homeowners design inspiration,” says Jenifer. “Residential design is my passion, as I enjoy working with homeowners because it is such an intimate process. By the end of a project, I feel like I become part of the family.”
Jenifer can help homeowners with a kitchen overhaul, decorate a brand-new home or help shoppers pick out an accent pillow to inexpensively transform any room in the house.
“My new boutique is a gateway to introduce people to my design services,” says Jenifer. “I am thankful for the community support over the past two decades and invite everyone to check out my new store.”
